I hear that CL meters are often inoperable. Make sure yours works, or pay less for the camera.

True.

 

The only way to repair the coil meter is to "cannibalize" one in another body.

 

BTW i wonder if it is legal for "La Maison du Leica" to sell an item without a warranty. Is that shop went a garage sale ? ;-)

No contractual warranty is mandatory in French law, only a legal one in case of inherent vice or non-compliance with specs.

So "Leica Camera Paris" (aka : la maison du Leica) must admit the legal warranty (one year on used item according to the EU-law), even if they write : no (meaning: commercial) warranty.

French people are very difficult :-))

Is that the case? I know that Ffordes in the UK sometimes sell items with a similar warranty. I'd assumed is was when they were selling items for which no spare parts were available.
