SL2, ISO 50, Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-70mm, 41mm at f/8.0 and 4 seconds, taken about ten minutes before the above, combining elements of two SL2 exposures. Undecided which photo I prefer. This one's a bit over the top, but I like the single human watching the scene. Thoughts on either one ? OR120 Posted June 5, 2024 Share #3 Posted June 5, 2024 Beautiful photos. I like the bottom image, intensity of the colors, waves, and as you say- man in the door. What do you mean when you say "combining elements of two SL2 exposures"? Also - with a 4 seconds exposure - how are the boats on the right side of canal so crisp? Very little if any movement. Why is the man in the door - still - with a 4 second exposure? Interesting photo.
david strachan Posted June 5, 2024 Share #4 Posted June 5, 2024 Think it'd make a beaut print with man in the door as a part of it all. ...
war Posted June 5, 2024 Share #5 Posted June 5, 2024 My preference would be the top photo, I especially like the lighting on the faces of the buildings on either side of the canal. The second is a bit hazy but how cool is the bright color on the water! The man in the doorway is just one of those things that happens once, that's another photo.

Interesting photo. On the bottom image I opened two separate exposures in PS as layers and merged them. In one I had included the entire facade of he Scuola Grande di San Marco (now the main hospital in Venice) to the top of the image, and in the other had captured the light trails of a passing private taxi but cut off the top of the Scuola. So the photo composites the lower canal portion into the upper image to include both and make it almost square. In addition I used generative fill to add about 10% more of canal, boats, and lights and balance the lower part. The canal and boats are from the four second exposure with the light trails and, somehow, all the boats are still in it. The man in the doorway is from the top exposure, which was six seconds, and he was just standing and staring the whole time. The first image from the M10-R is a single frame slightly cropped and denoised. Edited June 5, 2024 by theseahawk
