tappan Posted June 1, 2024 Share #1 Posted June 1, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I got to try an M10-R. Nice camera. Seems to have a little more grain (noise) than my M10-P. Thoughts? Mark

The M10-R has more MP, so you will see more noise at 100% compared to 100% with the M10-P

Robert Blanko Posted June 2, 2024 Share #5 Posted June 2, 2024 If you scale the images to the same physical size for viewing, there should be nevertheless an advantage for the M10R. i would have to carefully check my photo data base, but I don’t remember that my M10-R was worse than my M10 even on pixel level,

Thoughts? Mark I AM the ORIGINAL POSTER. Sorry for the underlines, not sure what happened there 🙂 Looking at the two files is mostly splitting hairs. I was simply curious what others had to think about the two files. The M10-R "cleans up" real well in PP. For my liking, I like the final PP M10-P file just a little better. I like the M10-P much better out of camera. The advantages of the M10-R regarding highlight recovery and resolution are worth the purchase if you're thinking about upgrading, in my opinion. 1st image M10-P out of camera. 2nd image M10-P Post process. 3rd image M10-R out of camera. 4th image M10-R Post process. dpitt Posted June 2, 2024 Share #7 Posted June 2, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) @tappan You are right, the difference in noise is marginal. What was the ISO value for both pictures ?

Alberti Posted June 2, 2024 Share #9 Posted June 2, 2024 Often, I 'experience' that in processing in LRc that the M10r images have much noise. In 100% peep mode I clearly see the noise. Also with lower iso. It might be very visible with marginal exposure. It means that sometimes I need to use the Luminance slider to 20-30. I now try to consider it as a LR thing. Capture One gives this impression of noisiness less. My previous M240 has had a generally more handsome form of noise. [Side note - I liked the grain of the M8 most, very film-like.]
