For those that enjoy vintage lenses (Leica or 3rd Party),

what are some lenses you own and love (or don't love), and what are some vintage lenses you'd love to own?

I was watching MrLeica on YouTube and he had an assortment of vintage lenses, including a Leica Elmar 5cm collapsible that I thought was really interesting, so I wondered what other vintage lenses are out there the people find interesting.

Thanks for this, I'm new and should have done a search.  I'll investigate more in the future.  I live near KEH and was thinking about dropping in to check out some of their older lenses so I was curious to know what some folks enjoy.

I have:

  • Three Elmar 5cm in LTM mount dating between 1932 and 1948-ish.
  • Summitar 5cm in LTM mount.
  • Summilux-M 35mm v2.
  • Summilux-M 75.

I also have a Nikkor 3.5cm and a Nikkor 2.8cm in LTM mount.

I wish I'd kept my Hektor 7.3cm LTM and, perhaps, Summaron-M 35mm f/2.8.
No regrets for selling the Thambar-M; it could do wonderful things, but too limited in use-envelope. (Replaced with the Summilux-M 75 above.)
Sold a Summilux-M 50mm v2 for lack of use, not lack of performance (replaced with the Summilux-SL 50mm).
Sold a Summicron-M 35mm v4: everyone drools over it, but for me it was just another excellent Leica lens, not a King of Anything. (Replaced with the modern Summilux-M 35mm FLE - also sold).

Dpends on what you call vintage. As far as Elmar 50mm lenses are concerned, the sharper is the Elmar-M 50/2.8 (pic) that was sold lately with 6-bit coding and works fine on the M11. It is more contrasty than earlier Elmar 50/2.8 and 50/3.5 lenses though.

Any lens with the suffix "-M" is new in my book.

I've been really happy with the Canon f/0.95 on the Leica. I got it as an M mount and added a close-focus adapter. I use it with the EVF so I can see critical focus and get a preview of the out of focus areas.
