This is my experience: I always followed slavishly the update instructions specified in the release notes, which states that the SD card should be freshly formatted and containing the firmware file only (I've always performed the update via SD following these instruction, never in wireless with the app).

The result of the upgrade, effectively, is similar to a factory reset (and this too is specified in the release notes). As requested by the upgrade procedure, I saved the user presets on the card, then restored them after the update.

After all these operation, I reloaded the last picture I took before the update on the SD card, then I shoot a test picture, which continued with the correct next number.

Please ignore below.  I fixed the problem right after posting.

Keep getting a "No firmware on SD card found" message.  I've uploaded the firmware file twice and re-formatted the SD card, including removing the preset storage folders, each time.  I've updated other Q firmware many times without any hitches.  Any clue?

Alas, despite the upgrade, my beautiful Q3 froze once again today... So disappointed! I thought the issue had been fixed. I couldn't turn it off, but removing the battery does the trick. It was quite embarrassing, especially when I was in front of a client. Such hassle unscrewing the handgrip just to access the battery, to enable me to restart the camera… I’ve my fingers crossed once again, hoping that the next update will finally put an end to these crashing issues. I've been an owner of different Fuji cameras for over 6 years and never, not even once, have I encountered a unit lockup.

What card are you using?

Anybody having minor issues with auto focus after firmware update?  Since update, from time to time I will get an out of focus image.  If I were to guesstimate, I would say somewhere in the <5% of images are out of focus.  Prior to update it was never an issue.  FWIW, I use spot focusing.

Not had an out of focus shot until I updated the fw. Had 3 today at f1.7 with spot focus

I’ve been using the zone focus, and it appears to be working exactly the same as before the update….

I had mine froze once too. Mine never froze before so this is new to me. Is there a way to rollback the firmware to previous version? Seems like my autofocus is getting affected too just like some people here pointed out. This is not fun at all

My Q3 froze two times after the latest firmware update. I had to remove the battery and restart the camera. So far I haven't experienced any problem with autofocus.

I don't think it is the SD Card issue. I am using SanDisk Extreme Pro 300MB/S and never had a problem. I reset camera and reformatted the SD Card but I am missing a few autofocus sometimes still and froze once.

I think people who are still on previous firmware should not upgrade it. At your own discretion though.

Looks like this might be one update to skip.  I see little benefit for me for the possible side effects.

Yes that’s my concern too. I’m not sure if we missed out one or two firmware updates, will there be an issue of being not able to do for a major update after some lapses.

Missing updates won't preclude being able to do one in the future but, as has already been said, firmware updates are cumulative so the 2.0.3 code based will be the basis of the next firmware update. So you'll end up with the 2.0.3 code anyway. We will have to hope that any issues caused by 2.0.3 will be corrected in the next update. 

Also, the firmware update shouldn't be a patch, it should be a replacement of the whole firmware. That might be worth checking with Leica because, if they are doing patch updates then you would need to install every firmware release to get to the latest one.

No issues whatsoever. The camera works as it did before the new firmware. But I don’t use Fotos, WiFi, Bluetooth, AFc, or eye tracking, and half the time use manual focus.

When you go to Leica's download site the only firmware listed for the Q3 is the current 2.0.3, so this would lead me to believe that the firmware updates are complete and not patches.  You really do not have the option of catching up.  With that in mind, the hope is that if this freezing issue really is a failure of 2.0.3 that the next firmware will correct for this.  As far as this current version, I do not see it as having any new features that I would need or fixes to problems I am having.  I will try to resist it and wait for the next cycle.

Thnx! After updating my image counter started at 1 again. After this trick my images counted from where I left before updating.

The FW was released just before I went on holiday.  Decided not to update due to potentially unforeseen circumstances.  I am in the middle of the vacation and decided to look at this thread.  Now I am pleased I did not update and appears I will not update when I get back..... so that Leica can sort out the small bugs that lead to freezes, potentially OOF images, etc.  Knowing there could be similar bugs in any successive FW releases, I am ready for those.  The Q3 is currently functioning well the "old" FW with no freezes, AF issues, etc.  and no embarrassing situations.  Just hope Leica can release the fixes in a more timely manner.

As soon as it was available, I downloaded the new firmware and installed it with my SD card (I never use the app at all). I have been using the camera every day since, always with „spot“ aurofocus, and have had no problems. What is different about my Q3, or my working methods from those who do have problems?
