tommonego@gmail.com Posted May 13, 2024 Share #1  Posted May 13, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just realized my 6 year old CL is approaching 40,000 frames and it may be time for a CLA, has anybody done this. I would like to get a handle on the estimated cost.
Advertisement Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 Hi tommonego@gmail.com, Take a look here Leica CLA?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dpitt Posted May 13, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted May 13, 2024 If it still works fine, I would not worry. I have an M3 from 1955 that still has the Leica seal. As long as it does what it needs to do without issues, I am happy.

I have a 1957 M3 that was in an attic for 20+ years and needed 2 trips to the repair shop to be right, a third to find out that the information the first repair place told me about it was about to have a permanent breakdown was incorrect. But I still baby it. The CL is developing some annoying habits, but it is still my favorite camera. The problems maybe more software related, so maybe a reset is in order.
TMorita Posted June 9, 2024 Share #4 Â Posted June 9, 2024 40k is not that many shots. I have an Olympus OM-D E-M1 II that I bought used with 2k shots, currently 270k shots, never needed a CLA. I have a Sony RX1 with over 100K shots that has never needed a CLA (has been in for repair twice though). So if it's working fine, I wouldn't worry about it. tommonego@gmail.com Posted June 9, 2024 Author Share #5  Posted June 9, 2024 When I first had Leicas, M2 or M3, it went around Leica owners I knew that they should have a CLA every 5 years or as needed. I was having some funky problems on a current vacation, so my first reaction was to have Leica look it over. As I looked at the problems they seemed software (firmware) rather than hardware. I ended up retsetting the firmware, and this seemed to solve the problems.
