lct Posted May 7, 2024 Share #2 Posted May 7, 2024 No built-in EVF apparently. An accessory one will be available hopefully.

Else, how would it be usable? I do not think Panasonic will require every user to buy an accessory EVF.

An excellent opportunity to sell a expensive accessory 🙂 Big questions in my mind are IBIS and new L-mount pancake lenses.

If it's like Sigma's it wouldn't be IBIS but EIS if the Pana body has an electronic shutter.

Unfortunately, that also is where my expectations sit : EIS and big associated crop.

If you have a closer look at the image in the initial post, you can see the rubberized edge of what I think is the surrounding edge of a viewfinder window at the leftmost side of the camera (right side in the above pic). It is the current LX100M2 apparently but i may be wrong.

I do not think Panasonic will require every user to buy an accessory EVF. It is a vlogging camera which has no need for an EVF. It is not meant for stills according to this video. It will probably have eIS I suppose
SoCalLeicanator Posted May 18, 2024 Share #13 Posted May 18, 2024 It looks pretty cool. However, it also has no mechanical shutter so I will likely pass. . .
Stephencdean Posted May 20, 2024 Share #14 Posted May 20, 2024 More info from l-Rumors website Additional Technical notes: Low rolling shutter Same IBIS and same Image Quality of the S5II All S5II recording features are there! Open Gate and so on… S9 doesn’t have a fan, recording is limited to 10 minutes at 6K and 15 minutes at 4K. not a great location for usbc c and micro hdmi battery looks like blk22 (most likely it) I think 1 slot only (didn’t ask) Curiosity: LUT button let’s you select your own LUTs. There will be a new LUT App from Lumix no attachable EVF Some features of the S9 coming on S5II in autumn Menu is a more “simpler” version of the S5II menu
BernardC Posted May 22, 2024 Share #15 Posted May 22, 2024 Just announced: https://shop.panasonic.com/products/lumix-s9-full-frame-mirrorless-camera-dc-s9 24 MP with IBIS (same as S5II), under 500g with battery and card, no EVF, new app for quick sharing, 6K open gate video. $400 cheaper than S5II. I found the info from Dpreview. The S9 uses Panasonic's 16 Wh DMW-BLK22 battery, the same one found in the S5II, G9II, and GH5II. It's rated to give you around 470 shots per charge 1

lct Posted May 22, 2024 Share #20 Posted May 22, 2024 Kind of Panasonic version of the Sigma FP apparently. If so, it should be followed by a 60mp version and an accessory EVF.
