Leicaboy Norway Posted July 3, 2024 Share #21 Posted July 3, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) The lack of ttl flash support, especially from 3rd party for Leica is a big bummer. I've used Godox V1, and TT350 with Fuji, Pentax and Canon. Excellent flashes. I had the SF 40 with my Leica Q. The size is perfect and a small do it all camera like the Q benefits from having a flash, a TTL flash, because this is a run and gun almost advanced point and shoot camera. But I got randomly over and under exposed shots so I actually sold it. Now that I have the SL2 I again need a flash for when I shoot events, maybe I'll get the SF 60 a go. For studio shooting you have the Godox Xpro but I also need a hot shoe TTL for those special situations where I just bounce it on the roof

cj3209 Posted July 3, 2024 Share #23 Posted July 3, 2024 The SF C1 remote w/SF60 is really good. It allows for remote off camera flash (like on a high tripod). https://www.adorama.com/us1809332.html?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw7ZO0BhDYARIsAFttkCgY8dI_7U2_74HDWLTvufXyeH56vOpQOQuwBwSBdeOnnWem6Ow1lssaAsc5EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&utm_source=inc-google-shop-p JL

The flash looks a lil far from the camera, i can't decide if i should get an overhead type or to the side.

If using on-camera flash I always bounce the flash off of ceilings/walls. That produces soft light that illuminates the subject in a way that facial features away from the direction of the light have a slight degree of soft shadows. Worst case is direct flash from the hot shoe that produces photos with "flash face". For bounced flash the position of the flash (flash shoe or offset in a bracket) is not important. Luke, thank you so much for this reminder, i did a shoot in the midst of the dance floor and crazy struggled with no flash, all i wanted was a direct flash face approach to ensure everyone was illuminated. But now that you mention, perhaps i need to put more thought into other aspects of shooting beyond the disco ball.
Luke_Miller Posted July 5, 2024 Share #27 Posted July 5, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I like ceiling bounce for those kinds of shots. The light falloff is more gradual and natural looking.
PeterBoyadjian Posted July 5, 2024 Share #28 Posted July 5, 2024 Promediagear makes a solid flash bracket. I really wish we had a TTL A10 for Leica Welcome, dear visitor! humble Posted Monday at 10:54 PM Share #31 Posted Monday at 10:54 PM (edited) I always used to think my SF60 had died when I got it out and loaded batteries into it and nothing happened except for a brief red glow on the indicator light. What I have found that if you wait a few minutes, all is well. It's as if some part of its circuitry needs power for a while (? to reload some firmware perhaps??) and it then works perfectly. PhotoCruiser Posted yesterday at 08:22 AM Share #32 Posted yesterday at 08:22 AM (edited) If the batteries are known good then that sounds to me as the capacitor/s inside do charge slow or a circuit does not realize that they are full. To exclude a battery problem, have you tried other batteries or connecting a power pack? The best rechargeable batteries i found where the Eneloop ones, but my trail cam ask for lithium rechargeable batteries as they have higher 1.5V voltage like one use batteries but i never tried them in a flash. If batteries are to exclude then try to load the last firmware even if i doubt that this has to do with the problem, if still the same then contact Leica or bring the strobe to a nearby Leica Store. Should they say that flash is shot then you may find a able solderer to replace the capacitor/s Chris Just in case you wan't/need to get new flashes As others wrote, i have 2 Godox V100-N and the Godox X3-L wireless trigger and this combination works very well in manual and TTL While the Godox TT685II and against the Godox information do not work in TTL, but can be triggered manually.
