8k open gate (I don't make 8k videos, but 8k allows cropping for digital zooming in post and video stabilisation in post).

8k video is 33MP croped to 16x9.

if you add the 35mm frame lines you probably end up at 47MP.

This contradicts your wish for a lower MP sensor with 8k video

The problem with BRAW is that you need to install plugins for it to work in Premiere Pro which I can't imagine is great for performance.

At least there's a plugin for BRAW in Premiere and FCP. I haven't used either of those NLEs in years, but I imagine that they create proxies, so any performance hit should be temporary.

Yes, I agree - and if push came to shove, I would prefer better performance in other areas than 8K

I don't even have a SL3, so my wishes for a SL3-S may already be present, but from what I know already, I would like:

  • ……..can eliminate the intrusive vertical bar over lapping the image.
  •

this one at least you can already do in the SL3.

  • Thanks 1

I wish Leica should make haste for release the remaining rebadged lenses : 70-200 and 100 macro or Vario-Summicron 28-70 would be nice. Anyway I hope the SL3s use global shutter and internal SSD and includes the CAI. I hate to say the current state of SL3 doesn’t motivate me.

What’s wrong with the Sigma / Pana originals?

No one buys the FX3 for stills. The SL3 and FX3 don't compete in the same market segment. I doubt Leica loses much sleep over that comparison.

Hey, I use it all the time for stills and it’s good 😊

There are always exceptions!🙂 But a 12mp sensor weights the FX3 on the video side of the video-stills hybrid spectrum; I guess the SL3 is on the stills side.

I would love that the power managment of the sl3-s should be better than that of the sl2-s.

I constantly run into the trap that I walk out without checking the battery and then after 30 images the battery is empty.

and it would be nice if the camera could use any wireless charger if it’s so power hungry.
pls build it into the main camera.

I would love to see an improvement in the ibis system, so that we can hold longer exposures.

The other thing I find important is that the connection to the app wireless and vis cable is much faster like with the sl3.

this annoys me a lot with the sl2-s.

cheers

I am only really interested in 4k so 24mp is still fine.  Just add in better DR and even better high iso.

would love internal raw video with BM or PR.

need afc that is much faster.  Would be great to have huge internal storage.

Keep the multishot function.  Bump in stills resolution to 33 or 47 (lol) is great to me.

love the SL2-s as is except for the focus primarily…

Give us more apo longer summicron options…

This wont do. 1/2000 sec and rolling shutter killing  my street photos. Shot with the 21 Super Elmar M I was reasonably happy with the SL3 out on the street. Shot between 400 iso and 1600 iso the images have acceptable grain when enlarged but my feeling is that the SL2S is better. The files are great and I  am sure its it's a matter of getting acquainted. The rolling Shutter is a problem however and I may stick with the SL2S and M10M for street work.

SL3-S ... stills oriented for me.

Bump the sensor to about 36-40 MP, with the BSI and usual incremental gains in sensor tech advances.

I'd dig on a 16 bit option, for "slow" tripod work.  Normal at 14 bit.  Max FPS or max CAF rate at 12 bit.
And, if dreaming a bit ... a magic battery with double the life.

Imo, that would be a very sweet, utilitarian approach, to carry just the one body, that can do a lot of things.

Of course, I don't expect it to come that way, but if I were building it, it's what I'd want.
