First SL lens

I am enjoying my M10 R a lot.

I have the 28 cron , 50 and 35 summilux lenses.I recently decided to invest in the SL system

What would be a nice first intro lens for the SL3?

Of course my M lenses will get second life with the  SL3

I was thinking about the SL 35 apo or the SL 50 /1.4

The 50 Summilux is big and heavy, try the 50 Apo Summicron instead. 

My preferred lens is the Sigma 65mm with the 45mm sitting on the other side of 50mm.

 you could either get your prefer focal length (28, 35 or 50) or something to complete your M lens (75 APO, 90 APO, Pana 100 macro, zoom, etc).

So many choices but ultimately, I think everyone deserves at least one APO SL Summicron. Not small and definitely addictive.

To go with your other m lenses, I’d add a 75 or 90 SL apo summicron.

but if you don’t ever use longer lenses then the 35 or 50 apo are equally earth shattering.

I would tend to say 24-90 !) because it offers you something you dont get from your 3 M-lenses - flexibility, fast AF and weatherproof. And it extends your focal length range.

Orson,  I see you already have some excellent ideas from a number of experienced Leica SL photographers.  You didn't mention your genres of photography; landscape, people, street, portrait etc. and like others suggested this would help you decide what might be a good choice for you.  Personally, I find my M lenses work superbly on my SL2 camera and variant.  I also use the SL primes and zooms as well.  Looking at the suggestions, I would agree with Tom0511 for a zoom choice.  It is excellent albeit a bit heavy and an alternative is the Leica 24-70 Vario Elmarit as well.  The good news for you, there are many excellent choices from the Leica brand and third party L lens manufacturers.  But IMO, at the end of the day, it remains your choice alone and what tool that you plan to create masterpiece photographs.   r/ Mark
