fotografr Posted March 29, 2024 Share #1 Posted March 29, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) This Charlie Brown is no clown. He runs a tiny, hard to find BBQ shop in Palm Springs, CA, and puts out the best fried catfish and barbecued ribs you ever tasted. He grew up in South Carolina where his family had a few restaurants scattered around. He's been cooking since he was seven and one of his sons now has a successful restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. When my wife and I stopped in recently to pick up an order, Charlie sat and talked with us for about 20 minutes and gave us a condensed version of his cooking history. It was shortly before his closing time so we were the only people there waiting for our take-out order. When we got our food, he walked us out to our car and continued to tell his story. Very congenial, pleasant guy. M10M/50mm Summilux asph I Welcome, dear visitor! Might just have to try it out when we are down there in a few weeks. We will be close - Menifee. But will have to rely on my father-in-law to take us as we will be in our RV.

It's on W San Rafael just a couple hundred yards from where you turn off of N Palm Canyon, left side of the street. Even knowing where it is, I drive past it just about every time. I'm sorry we won't be there when you come. We'll be back in Wisconsin. I'm going to mail him a print (he doesn't have email) so tell him you're my friend and maybe he'll throw in an extra pack of BBQ sauce. 😉 I'd advise doing carry-out. They only have seating for about eight people.
