bherman01545 Posted March 28, 2024 Share #1 Posted March 28, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) While out at a photo walk, I saw someone with a cool-looking Leica SL2-S. I asked about it and he said that he ordered some sort of 'skin' of covering for the camera. Truthfully, I couldn't tell that anything had been applied. Has anyone ever applied one of these? Which are the better brands and which can be applied fairly easily? Thanks

BobsFirstLeica Posted March 29, 2024 Share #2 Posted March 29, 2024 I suppose I had nothing better to do so I ordered a set from the company in the link. I did not apply everything, just areas I thought would suffer more severely from wear and tear. The odd thing is I have not done this to any other camera because they are used for my work and will get scratched or dinged during use. And they are depreciable items. The application is uncomplicated and requires a little skill to make sure the skins fit securely. The YouTube video is very illustrative. The skin on my Q3 is black and blends nicely with the camera. Not that expensive really. Just a degree of protection should I wish to sell the Q3 in the future. But since I really like what it does and its form factor, selling soon is not in the cards. nariza7 Posted March 29, 2024 Share #3 Posted March 29, 2024 yeah, I usually go with Alphagrvd too (which is also branded as lifeguard in taiwan I think). It sticks really well and the cutouts are quite accurate. I've recently removed some skins to sell some of my camera/lenses, and I had no issues with residue or anything. My camera and lenses looked new. My camera one was applied like 3 years ago, while the lenses were around a year. I've also tried an aliexpress one for one of my lenses, and the sticky layer of some of the decal stayed on so I had to spend more time to remove it. I've used the stickerbomb decal on my Q3, but will remove it for a new black one that I ordered recently. I'm also just going to put some sticker branding like minolta so people will think its old/cheap or something and not ask
