BillMaisey Posted August 24, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 24, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Gents Can anyone help me out ..? I bought a used Digilux 2 a couple of weeks ago. It came with two of the three original Leica cd's, the SilverFast disk is missing. Also, I don't have the serial number required when installing Photoshop Elements. Please PM me if you're able to help. I'm very impressed with the D2, I have already taken some of the most rewarding pictures I have ever taken with any camera. Michael-IIIf Posted August 24, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 24, 2006 the SilverFast disk is missing. Bill Don't worry Bill you're not missing anything of importance. You can get along quite well without it. Welcome to the forum. Michael
elansprint72 Posted August 24, 2006 Share #3 Posted August 24, 2006 Bill, I tried the Silverfast and then discarded it. Pete.
starwatcher Posted August 24, 2006 Share #4 Posted August 24, 2006 Bill, let me recommend to look at ebay for either PS Elements 3 or 4. It's really a small investment and absolutely sufficient to manoeuver your pictures through the digital ocean unless you want to do the most tricky things in the 0-1 universe best - Klaus
sfage Posted August 24, 2006 Share #5 Posted August 24, 2006 Yes, let me chime in here. You are not missing anything by not having silverfast. The previous owner probably threw it in the dumpster.
cbretteville Posted August 24, 2006 Share #6 Posted August 24, 2006 Bill, The silverfast version that came with the D2 is horible, don't waste your time and harddrive space on it. If you're running a Windows PC I suggest you download Pixmantec's RawShooter Essentials. It is a free raw converter and supports the D2. Their stuff was so good Adobe bought them earlier this summer. I was actially surprised to see that RSE is still available for download at this link: pixmantec - Carl
JHAG Posted August 24, 2006 Share #7 Posted August 24, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Bill, I have the D2 with the Cd Silverfast I do not use at all. If you wish, I'll send it to you. Welcome to the D2, the best D camera I've ever known…
Guest flatfour Posted August 24, 2006 Share #8 Posted August 24, 2006 Forget the Silverfast - completely unnecessary. Try Rawshhooter essentials - a free download. It's excellent.
BillMaisey Posted August 24, 2006 Author Share #9 Posted August 24, 2006 Thanks for the welcome and advise everyone .... I'll pass on Silverfast then. You guys don't sound too impressed by it. Can anyone help with the Serial number for Photoshop Elements 2.0. I'm not able to install it without. I'm guessing that any valid serial number will work with my copy. Please PM me with it to save broadcasting to the world ... Bill
pekem Posted August 24, 2006 Share #10 Posted August 24, 2006 I think that you would be better off taking the earlier advice and obtaining a later copy of Elements v3. or v.4, preferably v.4. Your v.2 copy will not accept the free download from Adobe to open the raw files; I think v.3 may but certainly v.4 will.

whorg Posted August 25, 2006 Share #14 Posted August 25, 2006 My Silverfast C/D is now a nice drink coaster, and I honstely believe it works better in this capacity than it's original intention. ~jk
