Saw it on Leica Rumours, my heart lost a beat, but then I saw the rumoured price of over 9000 EUR and limited pieces to be 200 some sort, I am calmed down again because it has nothing to do with me. 😁

Same here .... First reaction: WANT!!!!! But too pricey for me.

I really hope the buyers will use it a lot and do not put it on the shelf. And I want to see some brassing photos :)

The price doesn't matter anymore. It wouldn't even hit the store for general mortals like us to buy no matter what they price it.

Leica played this kind of game very well.

At this rate, Leica is shifting more and more into the category of:

- you own leica lenses? —> you don’t actually take photos on Leica M cameras

- you own Voigtlander lenses? —> you actually take photos on Leica M cameras

🤣

EDIT: I want to make it clear that I’m NOT saying people who own Leica lenses in this forum don’t actually use their gear, I’m saying it feels more and more like Leica is just leaning into the luxury jewelry genre

It's not true, I have 7 M bodies and 15 Leica M lenses and ... I use the all a lot.

Most M shooter I frequent use M lenses with their M cameras, nothing is ever babied for resale.

This is why I added the EDIT section because I knew someone would take it personally lol

If they also make it so that it can focus to 0.7m, it becomes extra painful for general mortals like us

Don't get your hopes up. It most likely will be the exact same lens with ... black paint and a different box. Just like the Chrome 50/1.2 reissue.

And buyers will certainly have to sign a non-resale contract for 3 years. Meaning if they want to sell it before the 3 years is up, like the 50/0.95 Titanium, Leica will have first dibs at the original selling price. They won't make money with it for at least 3 years.

Some speculators will buy it and store them for a few years, some will buy them to use with their black paint cameras, and most likely everyone of interest have been contacted and pre-sold on it.

I don't take anything personally just pointing out the obvious, this forum is an indication of who uses what. I see way more Leica M lenses users than Voigtlander users on it ;)

Even worse, a few are using original Steel Rim lenses or 50/1.2 original Noctilux lenses as their daily Leica lens when making photos... Some it's even the 35 Double aspheric, these are truly irreplaceable lenses in my opinion, but there are way more original Steel Rim than original 50/1.2 and 35 AA lenses.

Has anyone chrome stripped and black painted the regular version of the steel rim reissue? I haven't seen any Kanto repaints of this lens. I own it, but I still have no idea if it's fully brass on the outside. For 9000 euro it better brass and focus down to 0.7m!

I am still awaiting an opportunity to buy a Black Paint M10-R, to match my black-painted Thambar-M 90mm lens. 😉

I think that I will survive, well enough, with my 2022 Re-Edition Steel Rim. I seem to have received a good one. Actually, silver-chromed brass, on an original-version Black Chrome M10, looks quite decent.

I almost sold my m10-r black paint here, the buyer retracted at last, and I am glad he did. I don't want to sell it anymore. I just want a black paint lens to go with it. Damn you Leica! Let me rub my LLL black paint lenses for a while to sooth my nerve.
