Nice images! Which extension tubes do you use? And how is the (mechanical/electronic) quality of the tubes?

I’m using the Viltrox auto extension tube DG-L.
It has electronic contacts so that all the EXIF and aperture settings are working.

Tried using it with the 16-35, 24-90, 90-280 and 50mm. All works perfectly.
Using the 16-35 for close-up shots is unique as you can focus really close with a wide angle view.

There’s minimal degradation in image quality as you’re using the original Leica glass.  Even though the SL glasses are not designed for close focusing, I found that the image quality of the Summicron 50mm with the 24mm extension tube has similar sharpness with the Sigma 105 macro which is legendary!

decide to see how well the eye detect to capture and lock on.  Shot through the vines. 50SL Summilux wide open.  As long as the eye was visible the eye detect stayed on track. When the vines started to obscure the face and eyes it would focus on the vines until the eye came back in view. I felt it did a pretty nice job with the eye detect, way better than the SL2. I normally would just manual focus, however felt the SL3 was doing a good job and was reliable enough.

OMG.   Love the bokeh of this lens.  Been wanting to buy this lens for portraiture.

Obviously I have the opportunity to play with any of the equipment in the store. A friend of mine has a Nikon lens 85 mum 1.2. I was quite impressed also with the Boca from this lens. So we happen to have a secondhand Sigma 85mm in the store I thought I’d give it a go. So I got my daughter to just sit down and took a couple of test pictures. I can see myself possibly buying this although I don’t do that many portraits I just not sure whether I can justify it

Love the shot Helge.
How do you like the lens so far? Much as I love the 90-280, the lack of a TC is irritating.

I havn't had the Sigma for that long time, but so far I am very, very impressed. Fantastic sharpness, ultra-fast focussing (a clear advantage using AFc), generally smooth oof rendering (depending on aperture, distance between the subject in focus and the surroundings, and focal length; so I can't be conclusive here). Smaller and lighter than the SL90-280. I used the latter for some time, and I think the Sigma is a very fine substitute.

A few images from todays stroll. SL3 with Sigma 70-200 f2.8 DG DN Sport.

Just wanted a cleaner image.  Since it can go to ISO 50, just wanted to test it out.

Cleaner than what?  I don't see noise until you pass above ISO 6400.Anyway, below 100, you seem to just lose headroom, but gain no shadow depth.  I think the possible use for ISO's below 100 is to use mechanical shutter at the beach on a bright day.

Thank you for sharing your impressions, very helpful. Seems like a capable lens for a reasonable price.

Any experience with a TC or too new in your hands? I’m between this lens + a TC vs the sigma 150-600. I’ll keep the 90-280 and add one of these two for landscapes.

I have the Leica 1.4 TC and the Sigma 500 f5.6 on order; so no experience with the TC. The most versatile lens is likely Sigma 150-600, but I havn't any experience with that lens. Regarding optical image quality, I would think Sigma 70-200 - in that focal range - is hard to match.
