Another beautiful day In Perth WA.  I was "cyan hunting" at City Beach where you do not need gradients in the sky.  Apo Summicron SL 35

Tonight‘s moon in London, unfortunately quite a lot of cloud cover. And then it started raining. I will have another go when we get a clear night.

Coastal Conifer - Apo Summicron SL 35 The skies here in my part of Oz seem to have natural gradients. I often add gradients in PS but not here.

Thanks, nice shots and interesting comparison!

I sometimes use my 90-280mm for moon shots. With some heavy cropping and (not too heavy) sharpening I'm happy how they turn out. I've always been curious how well the 150-600mm does but would not want to buy new equipment for moon shots (plenty of photographers with special equipment and stacking techniques whose work I can enjoy). All the same:

  • The first shot looks quite over exposed, I guess you had different settings
  • To my eye the 150-600mm looks better without the extender, what kind of sharpening did you use here?

What an awesome camera. The sheer size of the files, this one 9,500 x 6,300. The saved tiff file is 2.8 Gb and there was hardly any post work completed for this image. ISO 125, Apo Summicron SL 35mm, f 5.6. One doesn't need the full 60 Mpxl sensor but I probably wont "turn it down". I have the SL2S Reporter for equally wonderfull files at 24 mpxl.

+1. Still a little early for the Pied flycatcher to arrive in the garden at 60 deg N (W Norway), but good to see it is on the way!
