Today I got a foldable thumb grip for my M10-R and I like like it. Feels solid and is very slim if you close it. So it does not disturb in a camera holster in comparison to a „normal“ thumb grip. The colors are black brass (and silver). I will see how the thumb grip will be under real life conditions….

Yes, it is available for the M10 and M11. You can see them on the website from idsworks

i mean i find it a fantastic product, we can be glad it exists - and how overwhelmed they are in Hong Kong with this avalanche of orders !  how come there are so many ?

i am just scratching my head why the heck Leica doesn't want to include this thumb rest by default ?  or for a premium at least ?  it's such an ergonomic jewel on my M10-D !  it really makes sense, it's truly useful !  people who never had such a thing on their M camera don't know what they miss, simple as that.

Thanks for the tip! Very interesting. Is yours black or silver? It seems lighter than the black one on the website, but darker than the silver version.

It is the black version. I would like to have it a bit darker, but maybe in another version

Nice marc, slim profile.. for once i thought your BP boasts double shutter release

might want to look into it

Thanks a lot! Yes it is the M10-R-A version. The „regular“ shutter produces digital, the „new“ shutter release analog photos. So you have the best of two worlds!😀

Leica does not want to include it because it would interfere with the minimalist bauhaus design of the M10/11. But they surely do offer one at a premium, it does its function well enough (but not as ergonomically my Match Technical one). I am almost certain Leica will not include a foldable thumb rest on M11D - because they did not include it on any other new camera after M10D.

sad sad - i mean i am stating here the obvious : Leica's thumb support 24015 is just not the same as the one on my m10d, it's an elephant. it's not foldable, it sticks out all the time, i assume it permanently touches and scratches one's cloth and skin, it may even be somewhat hazardous in the case of me slipping on Montréal's icy roads.

i never understood alta moda, i can't understand how ergonomy is sacrificed for something visual called Bauhaus.  my LAMY 2000 fountain pen is beautiful visually but still features a useful clip, and even won countless design awards with it...

anyway, my wife is telling me : you and your hard head !

Thank you for the link, looks interesting. One thing though, I have been using trditional thumb rests for years on my M9, M9P and now the original Leica one on my M10 P. Never ever did I have any problem nor did I find them bothersome in any way, just a great accessory for a better hold of the camera. I have to admit though, the original Leica model is somewhat overpriced, so no news here.....

BTW, I was just recently in Mile End and around, lovely parts, my fav was the smoked meat from Schwartz's deli.

yes, Mile End, constantly captures my eye !  and Schwartz , i agree, nothing keeps people away from that place, not even Montréal;s icy weather...
