And here is one in color... 21 APO and SL2. I love the detail this lens gives.

Nice work.  You managed to keep the sky relatively even with the polarizer on the 21.

Thanks. Yes. I tried to be careful. I lost a few because I turned the polarizer a little too far. I think if one stays aware and is cautious, CPLs can work on this lens. When photographing near the saltwater I like to use a polarizer— one, for glare/reflections and two, for protection against saltwater spray.

I have no first hand experience, but I think I remember reading that a linear polarizer lessens the chance of only having one side of the sky dark when using it on wider lenses.

Really enjoying the 21 APO so far. However, I am getting a few soft images at f/2.0.  Has anyone else noticed this? I will have to do a controlled shoot soon to test this, but it's something that I have noticed after coming home from the recent sessions. Anyway, here's one from earlier this week at f/7.1 with the SL2.

Been using my 21 APO wide open for street photography and zero complaints...uber sharp. Even did the old brick wall test and it was extremely close in performance to my 35 APO. The extreme corners tightened up at f/2.8, but at f/2.0 there was nothing to complain about....I have found resolution to be consistent across the entire imaging plane, unlike my 16-35 SVE, which I traded in for the 21 APO (and soon to add 28 APO).  Fantastic images!

Interesting. Good to hear about your results. What I think I’m seeing is that when putting focus on distant subject it is soft. Almost like shooting at infinity where everything is just kinda focused but nothing is crisp. It could totally be user error on my part which is why I need to test it on a tripod, make notes about exactly what I’m doing and examine the results. Or perhaps I just need to get to know the lens better. Glad you like the images. Mahalo!

The SL21 I have us also very sharp at all apertures and distances, f2 at infinity included.

Nice shot! ( but would dampen the violet/magenta cast in the foam/on the rocks in the foreground).
