they say always carry a camera, and many of us have a phone.

I carry Leica M camera because the rendering of every shot is much nicer,

It would be interesting if Apple had allowed HDR to be disabled in the iPhone 15.

The last model that HDR could be disabled is the iPhone 12 Pro

where the iphone really falls apart is in low light. its truly atrocious!

Also, the iPhone, heavily processes it image. I took a comparison picture of my house in full sunlight (iPhone 15max pro and M11 same focal length etc) and the shingles and bricks are pretty rough at 100% on the iPhone.

The phones good for memory pics and social media snaps and that really its purpose but it doesn't hold a candle to my M11

The iPhone 15 Pro Max is in fact a good companion for the M11. Shots taken with in parallel with the M11 are a good reference for setting the WB of the M11 shots in post, and in case of corrupted M11 DNG's there is still that picture on the iPhone 😀

I also do this often to remove magenta cast from the M11, using the white balance in the iPhone as a reference.

iPhone pics are really good nowadays in ok light and with all the software and computational photography now available, can look remarkable in some instances on a small screen. I use mine often to send pictures to my wife of things in the supermarket that I’m unsure of.

Isn't it a bit worrying that a mobile phone has to serve as a WB reference for a Leica camera?

Oddly enough, but the phone does this better than the M11, sometimes I use the Ricoh GRIIIx for this
