So I've been experiencing Freezes with my M11P with a single particular lens: Summilux 50mm f1.4 Black Chrome.
For Some Reason after 40-70 pictures my M11P would freeze with this lens. I have not had this many freezes with any other lens.
I attributed to the lens because I was shooting a Tattoo Show and each time I switched to this lens the camera would freeze several times over.

I use my M11P daily and usually shoot anywhere from 200-400 photos at these events easily.
Has anyone experienced more than usual freezes with a particular lens?

A couple of weeks ago I tested both the new Summilux 50mm and 35mm lenses.... during this process, I experienced my first corrupted DNG files. From what I recall, they were all from the 50mm Summilux. I had no freezes, just broken/unreadable DNG files in Lightroom.

This was the first time I've experienced corrupted DNG files... have not had it since, as I didn't purchase either lens.

I'm tempted to code one of my 50mm lenses as a Summilux and see what happens.

The Leica M system is very independent of the used lens. The only connection with the lens, where the firmware is involved, is the 6 bit coding.

Could you try the following? Switch off before the lens change and switch on after the change.

Today I coded my Zeiss Planar 50mm as a Summilux 50mm ASPH...

Lo and behold, corrupted DNG files!

Leica FOTOS connectivity is OFF.
Shutter speed and ISO was set manually.
Camera was on for well over 10 seconds before taking the shot!
Live View was ON

My M11 shows these files as "File unreadable"

At the risk of creating another unwelcome M11 problem, I too have had an issue with M11-P and the new close focus 50mm 1.4, about two weeks ago with latest firmware.

In my case, it was three shots in succession (individual clicks, not motor drive). They seemed to record ok, but when I uploaded from the card, they were as above, "Preview unavailable for this file." If you try and open the file, there's just some digital "noise," lines of pixels about half a frame, but the other two won't open at all.

I wonder if it's not just the 50mm, but related to the Content Credentials corruption discussed on another recent thread?

I have the M11 so there's no Content Credentials aspect to my issue, but who knows what's going on.

But please write an email to Leica. info(at)leica-camera (dot) com with your experiences.

+1. The Summilux 50/1.4 black chrome has not the same code (11688) as regular Summilux asph models (11891, 11892) though. This 11688 code is not listed  in the M11 menu if i'm not mistaken. I have no idea if it is related.

The codes you quoted are the product codes.

The 6-bit code for Summilux ASPH lenses is 100000.  Thats for the old and new close focus Summilux 50mm APSH lenses. I'm sure the black chrome has the same 6-bit code but someone with the lens should probably confirm that on their lens.

May i ask if you coded the lens though the menu or with hand coding? Just curious as my Planar is hand-coded as Summicron 50/2 v3 so coding through the menu doesn't work on it.

Hand coded using a stencil.
