I recommend the battery grip strongly. It is not too heavy, improves the balance with long lenses and makes the camera hold identical between landscape and portrait orientation

I played around with the camera a bit yesterday afternoon, the AF seems night and day compared to the SL2-S.

Setting the custom menu took about 10 minutes, I think it's good to go. I'll take both the SL2-S and the S5II for a spin this weekend, I love the colors produced by the SL2-S and I want to see how different they are compared to the S5II.

There's a very good chance I'll sell the SL2-S

I like the zoomed area when manual focussing or retouching the AF point in the S5ii/x: so nice to be able to visualise both the complete framing and the focusing area. Wish the SL2-s had this feature since I use it a lot with M lenses.

Otherwise, I'm not happy with the startup time of the S5iiX which I find quite long. And the EVF was disappointing at first (coming from S1), though now I got used to it. I also have limited trust in the back screen rotule mount.

I have had another Panasonic flip-out screen (GX8) and never managed to break the hinge, despite not being very careful in handling, up to the point of picking up the camera +100-400 by the screen.

Concerning my posts #52, #53 and #55 my S5II has been tested exstensivley at the service-center of Panasonic. They say it is all according to the technical standards. They didn't find any issues.

Meanwhile I have sold nearly all of my L-Mount-equipment. I am stepping over to Sony. I made lots of images on a wedding ceremony and I am satisfied with the results. The AF of the A7RV works reliable and is far better than on my S5II.

Maybe some day I'll be back but for the time being I'll stay with Sony.

That’s so weird they think your camera is fine. I had the S5II only for a few days, but so far it’s been great and focus seems accurate to me. I’d love if Leica could produce a similar camera with the same features
