Advertisement Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 Hi Harvey, Take a look here Leica 35mm f/2.8 Summaron [11106] (M3 Version). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dpitt Posted January 19, 2024 Share #2 Posted January 19, 2024 I suppose with M3 version you mean the goggled version? Yes, it works on the M8, bringing up the 50/75 frame lines, modified by the goggles to make them accurate for 35mm. I have one, but I must say that I dislike the extra weight of the goggles when not on the M3. My version has detachable goggles (when locked at infinity), but you can not really use them without goggles. The lens is typical for the vintage 50s look. Lower contrast combined with subtle saturation in color and tones in B&W. A bit too vintage for my taste but YMMV. I like the 60s and 70s rendering better on digital. They are just in the middle between the Summaron and the modern ASPH lenses. Also, F2.8 on 35mm does not really give much room for playing with DOF. IMO, the Summicron 35 or Summicron 40 C is more versatile on the M8, and they use the 35mm lines without the hassle of the goggles.
lct Posted January 20, 2024 Share #3 Posted January 20, 2024 11106 is a lens made for the M3 which has a 0.91x VF. For the M8, the regular version w/o goggles (11306) will fit better.
Ernstk Posted January 29, 2024 Share #4 Posted January 29, 2024 I used the non goggles version on my M8. It renders really nicely and is a joy to use. The build quality is exceptional. Ernst
