fotonutzz Posted November 22, 2024 Share #41 Posted November 22, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Finally, a dedicated X3 Nano for Leica...... However, the TTL function doesn't seem to be that accurate as compared to the Profoto. Some of my shots with the X3 or X-Pro II with the AD300 or Lux Master seems grossly underexposed. Even upgraded the firmware for the AD300, but the TTL is still a disappointment. Decided to use Manual exposure instead...... Does anyone encounter the same issues? Welcome, dear visitor! Hi SrMi I'm using a 200mm nodal slider with an Arca Swiss bracket. Got it for about $20 or less as the original bracket that came with the Lux Master is filmsy and flexes.....doesn't feel reassuring. PhotoCruiser Posted January 25 Share #49 Posted January 25 I added my questions to this tread, if some think that it's the wrong place then i will ask a MOD to start a new one. First The Godox X3-L is actually available for 117€ in Amazon Germany and probably the other European countries as well. Second Some questions for the Godox experts for a new setup Just got my SL2 and looking for a flash solution less expensive than the Leica ones, particularly as i would need two flashes and the trigger. I do macro mostly of alive small critters (insects, snakes) and need a flash for that and working TTL would be great for that and i mostly used the flash/es off the camera for special illumination requirements so i need a trigger who can do wireless to at least two flashes. I had this with my Nikon setup and it worked great but now with the Q3 and the new to me SL2 things are a bit more complicated. What i am looking to buy is: 1 Godox X3-L trigger (or the bigger ones if there is a reason for that) 2 simple Godox flashes (TT685II for example) For the above setup i have some questions The TT654II or the bigger models come in Canon/Nikon/etc models, does it matter what model i choose for exclusively wireless use? Is there still a problem with the strobe too near the trigger? One of them would go on a bracket on the side of the camera for non macro two of them may go on a home built bracket for macro (ring light) use, so still near the camera/ trigger is there any for me useful reason to choose a more expensive trigger or flash? The trigger and strobes should work also on my Q2, just in case i want to use the Q2 instead the SL2 Is there any macro ring light working with Leica in TTL? Thanks so much Chris

Thanks so much Chris You can add the X3-l to your camera. set the trigger to a minimum distance and it should work fine, I use it for TTL shooting with the flash mounted on the side of the camera. The trigger has to be for leica, to make TTL work. You can mix and match the godox flash because they all talk wireless godox language. Just don't get any old flash, if the flash didn't get any firmware update to work with the Leica trigger, most likely it does not work in TTL. Godox makes a Ring light, but it is big and does use the AD200 pack, I am not sure if it is too big for you for macro.

Thanks so much! I just ordered new from Amazon one Godox X3-L Trigger and two TT685II-C flashes and will do some tests after. Now looking for a base plate wide enough for mounting the two TT685II, one on each side for macro, there are some for underwater housings we call them "tray", something like the one on the photo but without the thing in the middle what i have no idea what it's for. I just need to mount two cold shoes and may reuse the 1 inch ball arms i already have from my underwater rig to position the strobes more far and flexible. Chris Welcome, dear visitor! tpf1952 Posted February 19 Share #53 Posted February 19 Chris, did you complete your experiment with the Godox X3-L Trigger and two TT685II-C flashes? I use the trigger with my SL2s and AD200s without issue, but I’d like to use a more compact flash when mounting on my Leica. Kind regards, Tom

Kind regards, Tom Tom, I am not Chris, but to me, the best compact (off camera) flash would be the ad100pro. It’s my compact flash for the Q.

I use the trigger with my SL2s and AD200s without issue, but I’d like to use a more compact flash when mounting on my Leica. Kind regards, Tom Thanks Tom! After Godox Customer Support wrote me that the TT685II does not support TTL on a Leica i sent them back and bought two Godox V1 instead and they work as supposed. Our technical team mentioned that the TT685IIC does not support X3L, whereas the V1/V100/V1PRO/V860IIIC models are all compatible. This is likely the reason why you are unable to use TTL. The V860III Model is just a little bit bigger as the TT685II, my V1 again little bit bigger as the V860IIIC due their round heads, but have fixed light included. There is no really small flash from Godox working in TTL. The AD100 Olaf_ZG mentioned would be a rather small option too, but has no hotshoe if that matters. There is probably a adapter from the holder the AD100 has. Also, the lamp head diameter is the same as my V1 and it has a awesome magnetic accessory kit for about 50 $/€, the Godox AK-R1, i just received them and am impressed. WOW!!, it works, the Leica X3 Trigger pops the (for Sony) Godox lights. Interestingly, If I set it in Legacy Hot-shoe (in the trigger) it got a little wonky and was over exposing. But keeping that set to off I can shoot TTL and it exposes perfectly every time...This is GREAT!! Nice and easy to adjust exposer on separate channels right on the transmitter, clear and concise. I'll try it on my Q3 next, dealing with trick or treaters currently I can finally sell my Sony setup, camera and lenses and buy another APO for portraits. Thank you for sharing! I dug up an old Godox for Sony flash and paired it with the X3 for Leica and the two work very well. Now to find a bracket to mount the two together! tom

I got two inexpensive brackets for two flashes from Amazon and they do their job. They could be made a bit sturdier but do their job. Do a search there and you will find many, single and doubles with a cold shoe. Chris
letoeb Posted April 10 Share #58 Posted April 10 Has Anyone tried the X3L in combination with the SL3? I have tested it on the M10 and TTL works fine. But on the SL3 TTL doesn't seem to work.
PhotoCruiser Posted April 11 Share #59 Posted April 11 The Godox compatibility list for the X3-L does not show the SL3 and it seems that TTL does not work on the SL3. But you could use the Godox Pro II trigger what seems to work also in TTL, there are some treads here about that. Chris 1

I used it to fire my Lux Master and AD300 and the TTL exposures are totally erratic!!!! Sometimes grossly overexposed and sometimes grossly underexposed. Guess the Godox TTL doesn't talk well with Leica. In the end, I just bought an auto-sensor for my Lux Master and it is more accurate than the wireless triggers. Still have to use back my Profotos for more serious shoots. Edited April 11 by fotonutzz
