jps1 Posted January 28, 2024 Share #41 Posted January 28, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Difficult to see differences, maybe a little more contrast in the shadows for Q3, but I don't see a difference especially in the background foliage. This certainly comes from JPG compression. Thanks again
Advertisement Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 Hi jps1, Take a look here Q3 Monochrom ...Yes / NO. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mhasman Posted January 28, 2024 Share #42 Posted January 28, 2024 (edited) @SAronian Thank you very much for sharing! It help a lot! IMO 3rd image is visibly more flat and grayish when 1st image is more eye-realistic, contrast and even little 3D. Monochrom wins Edited January 28, 2024 by mhasman

La 3ème image de l'OMI est visiblement plus plate et grisâtre alors que la 1ère image est plus réaliste pour les yeux, le contraste et même peu de 3D. Monochrom gagne May be flatter but I enlarged to 400% in Capture One and the Q3 spike is still good. To better compare, it should be done on DNG files. Delboy72 Posted January 28, 2024 Share #44 Posted January 28, 2024 This is worth a look, comparison starts at 9.10 Leica Q3 vs Q2 Monochrom: Choose!" width="200">
Delboy72 Posted January 28, 2024 Share #45 Posted January 28, 2024 I should add that during lockdown I scanned all my old B&W negatives from the 60s & 70s and liked the images so much I bought the Q2M and have loved it. However, since getting my Q3 a few months ago and setting a function button to switch to B&W, the Q3 has been my preferred camera, as I get the choice of both styles without the need to carry 2 cameras. The use of colour channels and AI in Lightroom to edit (as referred to in the video) influenced this choice. As a consequence my Q2M is up for sale. mhasman Posted January 28, 2024 Share #46 Posted January 28, 2024 (edited) Derek, 2 questions, please: - was a video above made with Q2M? - do you have a video with setup for scanning negatives and old photos with Q camera? Thank you! Edited January 28, 2024 by mhasman

Thank you! Hi, I'm afraid I have not used the video on either camera and I use a Canonscan 9000F Mk II to scan my old photos and negatives. Derek Hi Derek, Quick question: how do you set a function button to switch directly to B&W? So far, I have only been able to set buttons to "Film Style/Leica Looks", in which case you still need to choose B&W from the Film Style Menu. Thanks in advance! That would be my desert island camera. 256mb on a deserted Island?! Hmmmm, what would you do with the extra 200+/- mb of storage? Wilson?? Agree, it would make a great tool. Qwertynm Posted January 30, 2024 Share #51 Posted January 30, 2024 you're right. for the deserted island it should at least know how to play volleyball and start a fire. That'd be of help :D
eleeker Posted February 6, 2024 Share #52 Posted February 6, 2024 Do I believe it's on the horizon? I don't know why we are even talking about the possibility of a Q3 Monochrom when the regular Q3 is still nearly impossible to get. Adorama's expected in-stock date got pushed back, again. Now it is April 2024.
Le Chef Posted February 6, 2024 Share #53 Posted February 6, 2024 You’re better off going to your nearest AD than going onto a long list at one of the biggies. I waited 2 months from ordering to delivery from my AD.

Lew Posted February 7, 2024 Share #55 Posted February 7, 2024 I am totally on board with the idea of a Q3m. Arguably the best bw street shooter ever. It'd be the M11 with lightning fast auto focus, except smaller, lighter and faster to handle.
luetz Posted February 8, 2024 Share #56 Posted February 8, 2024 After the Q3M, we still need a Q3S(Still only). A camera for the "purists" that never use "Video" and be technically optimised for "stills" only. 2
Le Chef Posted February 8, 2024 Share #57 Posted February 8, 2024 No one forces you to use video on a Q. If it reduces the cost per camera because more people buy them, that can’t be a bad thing.
