fotografr Posted August 23, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 23, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) These four guys flew together during World War II. I photographed them at the EAA Fly-in held in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, every summer. The event brings in hundreds of planes of all kinds and tens of thousands of people. M6, 28mm Elmarit, Tri-X, scanned from print.

square_one Posted August 25, 2006 Share #11 Posted August 25, 2006 So nice, so alive, this shiny plane with it's shaded people at high noon. A very wise shade-oriented exposure that kept all the key highlights in the metal. Like it!
fotografr Posted August 25, 2006 Author Share #12 Posted August 25, 2006 Thanks much for the kind words. Uwe--They were all pilots assigned to the same carrier. I'm sure they had more dogfights than they care to remember. John--Yes, this was printed on 8x10 paper with my Focomat V35. That's the only enlarger I use on a regular basis. You're going to love yours. They are really wonderful.
twom4 Posted August 27, 2006 Share #13 Posted August 27, 2006 Brent, A very nice one. Am sure they love to hang it on their wall. Amazing for anyone to survive World War II fighting in the sky.
uulrich Posted August 27, 2006 Share #14 Posted August 27, 2006 If they flew off from carriers they would have been aviators - you just keep them calling piots! Your pictures are very good, anyway. ;-)
fotografr Posted August 27, 2006 Author Share #15 Posted August 27, 2006 If they flew off from carriers they would have been aviators - you just keep them calling pilots. ...and the difference is? Now, would an aviator be insulted to be called a pilot, or would a pilot be insulted to be called an aviator?
uulrich Posted August 27, 2006 Share #16 Posted August 27, 2006 Yes, they would. Aviators... Aviators are better then pilots. :-) Try to take off of a post stamp and you know the difference. :-)
