chanan Posted December 31, 2023 Share #1 Posted December 31, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all! Very excited to finally join this community. It has been my dream to get a LEICA. I made it! Unfortunately, I think I might have an issue with a faulty Q3, but wanted to verify with you first. Got it a few days ago from an official Leica store France. I'm seeing some weird behavior while focusing - kind of a blurry/distorted view when trying to focus. I tried resetting the camera and also switching between focus modes, but it still proceeds. Will appreciate your help here. Is this something natural to the Leica focus system? Thank you in advance! jaapv Posted December 31, 2023 Share #2 Posted December 31, 2023 Are you using AFC here? If it does it in all circumstances check this with the Leica store. It may be that the camera needs to be replaced.
LocalHero1953 Posted December 31, 2023 Share #3 Posted December 31, 2023 If the captured image is in focus then I think this is not a focusing issue, but rather an EVF issue that others have reported: the EVF occasionally blurs, to minimise processing, while trying to continuously focus. I don't have a Q3 but others have suggested reducing the EVF refresh rate. I don't think this is desirable behaviour, but I don't think it is a fault/bug either - just a problem of a processor not powerful enough to continuously process a high res screen.
M11 for me Posted December 31, 2023 Share #4 Posted December 31, 2023 I am not sure if there is a problem here. I presume that in your little video you press the exposure button multiple times. May I suggest you to try AFs to start with. You're using the iAF which is not that i (intelligent). Indeed I see something blurry on the bottom left which I cannot see in my Q3. And try "normal" subjects; maybe not the moving branches. If you continue having blurry viefinder (and if it really is blurry), then there is definitely something wrong. Your warranty just started. So there is no hassle.

Tried AFs, still happening (even when shooting still objects). Image comes out sharp when I review it, but anything through the viewfinder / LCD has this blurry vibe when I half press the exposure button.

Yes, I've been reading through this AM. It shows on my LCD as well as the EVF. Images are sharp though. dunno =/

David Wien Posted December 31, 2023 Share #8 Posted December 31, 2023 If your EVF frame rate is set to 120Hz, try changing it to 60Hz. This is at Main Menu 5 / Display Settings / EVF Frame Rate. (bottom of the list!) David
DrewT Posted January 1, 2024 Share #9 Posted January 1, 2024 If you download the Q3 manual, it says that there is a drop in resolution whilst acquiring focus, there is nothing wrong with your camera and at present there is nothing you can change to minimise it.
