However, I had to go through a few to get one with the threads cut in the correct location. That said the original Leica adapter is probably a safer bet as they should have the threads cut correctly and not starting in random location. TomB_tx Posted December 28, 2023 Share #23 Posted December 28, 2023 Here's my copy of that lens mounted on a Leitz adapter. Notice how the cutout area of the lens mount aligns with the cutout on the adapter where the camera roller moves when focusing: Welcome, dear visitor! Now here's a cheap copy adapter, where the lens is not aligned so the cam can enter the cutout on the lens: I have a number of adapters of different makes, and many align differently. I have 2 Kipon adapters, and one aligns correctly and the other doesn't. The adapters I have from Rayqual and Voigtlander all align correctly.
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! I got it from Keh in "ugly" condition lol. It didn't really specify much else tbh. But it does seem the underside is kind of ugly. I'm starting to think it's the adaptor. I've ordered another one so I will update when it arrives. Im not sure exactly what they did or didn't do with the lens tbh. If the new adaptor lets me focus I’ll take it to get serviced. They wanted to charge me $45 to look at the lens, which is the same price as a new adaptor so seemed smarter to try that first in case I did need it. The lens doesn’t look Ugly at least cosmetically and the underside looks good to me. So it requires adjustments so the nice deal. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the reason behind the UG rating. Is it already passed the return period?
TomB_tx Posted December 28, 2023 Share #25 Posted December 28, 2023 (edited) The 3.5 Summaron is a very good tiny lens. I used mine on a IIIf to carry while in the Army in the late 1960s. Here's a quick snap on my M10 that shows the size and image contrast. Welcome, dear visitor! It does not have the mount cutout like the Summaron, and so alignment of the adapter wouldn't matter as much: Edited December 28, 2023 by TomB_tx Correct Serenar to 2.
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! vsantos720 Posted April 6, 2024 Share #27 Posted April 6, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I picked up a copy of this lens and have run into the same problem with adapting it to an M-mount, and not being able to close focus due to the adapter. I've tried the Light Lens Lab 35 mm, as well as the 28 mm, and 50 mm adapters, and none align correctly. I've also tried a Fotodiox adapter which is off by even more. I've ordered a couple more from Amazon to test. If those are a no go, I have to then decide to sell or find one of the more expensive adapters, but I'm not sure it's worth it at that point. The prices of those original Leitz adapters has increased significantly - I bought a bunch (4 IIRC) about 4-5 years ago (via Gumtree) here in Australia for $A70
