FrozenInTime Posted December 14, 2023 Share #41 Posted December 14, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I have struggled over the years to find anything digital that came close to the Leica M9 or M10 and small rangefinder lenses. Used the Panasonic GX85 m4/3 with 15/1.7 and 25/1.4 'Leica' lenses, but sold the lenses when the TL2 and CL came along; perhaps a mistake as the size was great and it had IBIS. A real shame Panasonic and did not update the small form factor bodies. I keep the TL2 as a piece of art. Tried the SL2-S; fantastic IQ and IBIS, but just too large and heavy both indoors and outdoors. The X100V and X-T5 respectively, replaced the CL and SL2-S. The LM WR 'Fuji-lux' lenses are fantastic in IQ, as good as the 35 Summilux TL with focus speed in another league. I still tend to use the Leica M film or M10 and X100V more than the X-T5, so fundamentally it must be that size matters more than AF speed or resolution. LocalHero1953 Posted December 15, 2023 Share #42 Posted December 15, 2023 (edited) I have no digital M now, but two film Ms. Their main companion is a SL2-S or Q2. But since I think the OP was asking about alien life forms, then I have a Gandolfi (4x5, my avatar), Chroma Carbon Adventurer (4x5) and Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K (L-mount, video, but can take stills). TheLaird Posted December 21, 2023 Share #43 Posted December 21, 2023 I have Olympus MFT for anything that moves (wlidlife and sports mainly). Small size means easy to handle. sold my Fuji GFX which I used for things that do not move and replaced it with Q2.
howard_cummer Posted December 21, 2023 Share #44 Posted December 21, 2023 I use a Nikon Z9 for airplanes and birds in flight and, with the latest firmware, the number of keepers is phenomenal! For more down to earth pictures I have a Q2 and a Q2M and an M10R plus a bag full of Leica, Zeiss and Voigtlander lenses.
SNJ Ops Posted December 26, 2023 Share #45 Posted December 26, 2023 Sony for my portrait and occasional nature work. Bought an M10 earlier this year for my street photography and my only regret now is that I want an M11 but that will just have to wait another year or 2. simplicity Posted January 12, 2024 Share #46 Posted January 12, 2024 As I am coming from Fujifilm I own a X-H2S with 3 or 4 lenses for professional work when I need AF (for weddings for example). But actually no plans doing much professional (paid) photography this year.
Almizilero Posted January 12, 2024 Share #47 Posted January 12, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) L Mount, SL2-S and S5II as backup. I got tempted by the Zf lately, but even with the additional grip it felt just wrong in my hand. So I hope Samyang will soon bring us the 35-150 to the L-Mount.
Martin B Posted January 12, 2024 Share #48 Posted January 12, 2024 (edited) Sony A7R and Canon 5D MkII for digital in parallel with my M-E 240 and MM 246 cameras. I don't see a need to upgrade any time soon using this mix. The A7R comes out for macro photography (in-camera EVF and tilt screen LiveView are big advantages here) and on hikes here mostly combined with Canon 17-40/4 L EF lens and adapter. Canon 5D MkII for speedlite flash photography and when I - rarely - need to use AF support (airshows, wildlife). Still have a nice collection of Canon L lenses but stopped vesting into Canon gear after 2013 when I felt intrigued by Sony mirrorless instead which became a stepping stone for me to transition to Leica after I explored compact rangefinder lenses adapted to my Sony A7R for several years. In > 80% I am now using my Leica gear for digital photography. For film it is > 90 % with Leica M and my IIIc cameras, rest with Hasselblad 500 C/M and Rollei 35. I don't remember when I last used my Canon SLR for film photography! I wish Fuji made a full-frame mirrorless camera. But since Fuji omits to this day using FF sensors, it was always an exclusion criteria for me to use their cameras. I need FF since I predominantly shoot wide and ultra-wide lenses including fisheye. hepcat Posted January 13, 2024 Share #50 Posted January 13, 2024 I neglected to answer the second part of the question back in Dec. I find that a Lumix S5 makes a lovely backup camera for the M10-P. I have an M to L lens adapter, but I use it primarily with my R glass.
lanetomlane Posted January 18, 2024 Share #51 Posted January 18, 2024 I've used Leica continually since 1969 and presently have the Q2, M10, M10-r, M10 Monochrom and SL2. However, I also have a Nikon D800 and D810 which I use mainly with a 600mm F4.0 Nikon lens (and 300mm F2.8 but it's presently broke) for Wildlife and Motorsport. https://photographybytomlane.com
