I usually set the file format to DNG+JPG for an extra backup in case of a faulty SD card/write, and also to have the OOC JPG on hand.  With the M11 HDR JPG, I was curious and set in on max (High) HDR.  However, when importing in Lightroom, I'm getting two distinct files, xxx.DNG and xxx-2.JPG.  I had that happen before and used Stacking by time 0, but in this case the JPG becomes the top of the pile!  I'd like to revert this to the usual outcome where the JPG is a sidecar to the DNG.  I've not changed the settings to do so.  How do folks work with such pairs?

I only import the DNG files to C1P in most cases, even when I shoot in DNG+JPG. All files are backed up in a separate folder structure to disk before importing them into any software.

My SL is set up a little bit different.
It is set to DNG + JPG and the DNG files are stored on SD card 1 and the JPGs all go to sd card 2. I usually only bother with SD card 1, after each shoot, I take it out and backup the DNG files before processing, then import and process them in C1P. The SD card is large enough to store multiple shoots. I keep it as backup in the camera and empty it from time to time to the backup disk on my pc.

My results with C1P (v23) and DNG are so fast and good that I consider using the JPGs just as backup on a separate SD card or in memory if the camera supports it. Once my pictures are read out from the SD cards, the files are backed up securely (multiple disks), so it does not make much sense to keep JPGs as well as DNG files. Of course I also backup my C1P sessions to keep my PP work safe.

I keep a backup of the the processed DNGs as JPG (full resolution). This backup also serves as my image archive containing all my images over the years. The image archive is managed by Digikam which I use as a kind of free Photo Mechanic. If I want to find a particular set of images, it has all the tools to search and find what I need (tags, image properties, face recognition...). From there I go back to the PP software projects where needed or the original DNG as a last resort.
