Does anyone here prefer a Leica film body over the current digital M bodies

Why this thing about large pixel-amount and camera-shake? I don't get it at all.
Please explain! Or don't. 🙂

In my view it is something of an unfounded claim and then "everyone" just claim it on repeat, without any reasoning made by oneself.
Sure, a camera (sensor i.e.) movement of a certain amount of mm during the exposure involves a larger amount of pixels in a high-pixel-camera than in a lower-pixel-one. But that has nothing at all to do with any visible blurriness when looking at the whole photo. I say it's just a mistake-thinking, based on some over-focus on mathematics.

If you were looking at a low-resolution photo, it won't matter. But the point of a high-resolution sensor is to create high-resolution photos with tangibly finer detail than the lower-resolving camera can do. That, however, calls naturally for more accurate focus and less motion blur.

Can an M11 deliver tack-sharp photos? Absolutely. But when compared on a pixel level with an M10, it's harder to achieve.

I’m in the market for a digital M. However, I prefer sensitivity over resolution. The M10 would fit the bill nicely if it's sensor was the SL2-S’ sensor. But it's not. In my opinion, the numbers race is precisely what the M system is not about. Alas, Leica feels obliged to do exactly this.

Hi all,

I love my M6 and it feels so natural in my hands.  I love the shooting experience, the limitations of film and even the processing.  However there are some times especially in low light where a digital M comes in handy.  Or just the instant gratification of digital output.

I just picked up the Leica M11-P and before that I had the M10-R, and I feel like these high resolution sensor Leica’s are a bit of a struggle for me.  I have a hard time relating to them.  I feel like even with my shutter set high to avoid camera shake the higher ISO sort of muddies the image in a not so good way.  Sometimes images are too sharp and other times I feel like I’m struggling with focus.  So then I try stopping down and then we’re back to higher ISO that then muddies the picture.

When I take out the M6, I don’t think about any of that and it all just makes sense.  I also don’t feel like this when I’m shooting with the Q3.

Has anyone else struggled with the digital M bodies as well?  I want to embrace the M11-P like I do my M6 but I’m a bit worried and when you put that much money into a camera body you want to be attached to it and love it.  And I’m struggling.

Would love to hear your thoughts…

For me, the M9 was a nightmare.

For me, the M11 is a delight.
