First time I drove (a lot 😀) to be in the main path of the eclipse. Even if it was just an annular eclipse and not total, it was worth it. Call it my googling skill or luck, I selected a location called Parowan Gap in UT state which has lots of ancient petroglyphs. From the pictures on Google Earth and street view, I could visualize how the background will be. It turned out to be a satisfying trip. Photos as well as driving on the desolate and beautiful backroads of the wide open UT and NV states.

Both these pictures are composite.
M240 with 28cron ASPH for the background picture. It was taken in the morning just before eclipse progression started. Sun pictures were taken with a different camera with filter and with the same FL. This makes size of Sun and relative position faithful. Eclipse images are 12 minutes apart.

Second composite of closeup pics below are manually arranged to fit the phases close to each other. These were taken with Leica 180 APO 3.4 with 2X APO extender (and with solar filter). I love how compact this combo is. It is easy to focus and is very sharp.
