Felix Aachen Posted October 20, 2023 Share #1 Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) By accident i saw a Leica Q at a Camera-Shop in my city. They offer the Q for 1950€, with 1 year warranty. I always wanted a Q, but im a little scared to buy a camera which was used for potentially 8 years and the thought that it may break on me. I took a closer look at it and do not see signs of heavy use. Do you think im being paranoid here? Thanks in advance! Advertisement Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Hi Felix Aachen, Take a look here Should I buy this Q? . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
idusidusi Posted October 20, 2023 Share #2 Posted October 20, 2023 Can you see how many shots were taken, that would indicate how heavy or not it has been used?
reynoldsyoung Posted October 20, 2023 Share #3 Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) Let me ask the forum this...on a Q is there any way to get an "actuation" number..that number of times the shutter was activated? There's the frame counter, but that could have been reset. Same question as idusidusi....might ask the shop owner. reynoldsyoung Posted October 20, 2023 Share #5 Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) You might call Leica customer service and ask. I would be willing to bet there is. Then you can "school" us all!! Not sure about the price either...good?? Edited October 20, 2023 by reynoldsyoung

The price is good I guess, i found them on ebay for mostly 2300 without warranty.
reynoldsyoung Posted October 20, 2023 Share #7 Posted October 20, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes...the warranty helps the risk factor a lot.
bobtodrick Posted October 20, 2023 Share #8 Posted October 20, 2023 Well there is this…a user review of a Q with over 1/2 million frames and still going strong. I’d say that the fact the shop is willing to give a 1 year warranty means they are pretty confident in it

There's always a risk when buying used... but how many people have had issues with new cameras out of the box? If this camera has been working for 8 years then that's an amazing sign. Not to mention you have a mature firmware. Buy it.
JNK100 Posted October 21, 2023 Share #10 Posted October 21, 2023 It's not paranoia, but as other say, if it has a 12 month warranty (and the dealer is reputable), then probably worth buying!
MikeD70 Posted October 21, 2023 Share #11 Posted October 21, 2023 I'd buy it! Price is right, and some warranty, looks to be in pampered condition. What's not to like?
jaapv Posted October 24, 2023 Share #12 Posted October 24, 2023 Thank you for this topic. It reminds me how not to choose a camera. 2
jonnyboy Posted October 27, 2023 Share #13 Posted October 27, 2023 Great price (and great camera too). From my experience, the Q is a workhorse and can handle a lot of tough jobs (rain, heat etc). I pair it with my SL2-S when I work and it's an essential companion. The lens is outstanding. 1 Year warranty is great, if you have the chance to try it, shoot against a clean background at F11 and make sure there is no dust on the sensor (it happens, occasionally). FIY Leica Store can clean the sensor (and replace the leatherette) for £200. If you are okay with 28mm you will be a happy shooter.
Alex.. Posted November 2, 2023 Share #14 Posted November 2, 2023 You should buy it. It is a great camera and you will have a warranty. What else are you waiting for? I bought a Q last week, on the second-hand market, where there is no warranty. The price I paid was, for the camera and the Leica SF26 flash, €2,000 with all the boxes and invoices. I've only had the camera for one day but the results seem very good. Of course, update to the latest version (3.1) when you have it. Think no more.
