Thanks Andy! I see that I have been to 9 of them, the first one being Venice in 2010. 

Both venues are within 1.2Km of my hotel, so looking forward to a leisurely stroll for the night challenge. 

I am looking forward to it.

Our place is about 20 minutes walk away. But I had nothing to do with choosing either 😊

The Gaglio sent me their proposal. They ask if there are special dietary requirements. I told them the number (30) of participants may fluctuate as this is an open challenge and that each would take care of their own bill.  :

 Kir et amuse-bouche

 La pissaladière, oignons confits et anchois

Pissaladière, confit onions and anchovies

Les poivrons à l’huile d’olive, rôtis puis pelés

Grilled pepper with olive oil

Their website says that they also have a “light lunch” offering. I for one wouldn’t want a meal like this at lunchtime as I’d be asleep by 3pm.

Is a lighter offer available too?

Tactics..... Philippe is used to a big French lunch, so he's banking on us all falling asleep during the Challenge 😃

That is a defensive move. Remember, Philippe has the 'local disadvantage' of being familiar with the locale. Everyone else has the advantage of 'fresh eyes', which is a real factor. I encourage Philippe to take advantage and feed you all up at lunch. Trust me, it will be delicious.

Hello everyone, I have been in extensive contact with the Gaglio for the lunch meeting, trying to make them revise their view but to no avail: the light lunche version (20.90€) is not available on Saturdays and we're considered as a group. They stick to their first proposal. I'm very sorry about that.

So: should I cancel the reservation? let me know.

Thanks Philippe. That’s a shame. 

I think that if we can find somewhere for a lighter lunch, that would be preferable. 

I’ll have a look later, but would welcome other suggestions of course.

Valid point, but no-ones told him yet that he has to do the challenge blindfolded.

I have made enquiries with another bar/cafe in the Old Town and will advise when they come back to me. It does sound promising, though.
