andybarton Posted September 16, 2024 Author Share #144 Posted September 16, 2024 We need to advise the restaurant for the evening dinner of numbers. I have the spreadsheet here, so if anyone wants to join us, now is the time to let me know, please. We have a total of 30 people, as anticipated. It would have been 31, but unfortunately, one member now has another engagement that they have to attend, instead. Welcome, dear visitor! DigitalHeMan Posted September 16, 2024 Share #145 Posted September 16, 2024 I assume there are non-alcholic alternatives included for those that don't drink, plus water for the tables? 1
andybarton Posted September 16, 2024 Author Share #146 Posted September 16, 2024 Absolutely. Olaf has kindly provided me with a "drinks fund", so we can cater for all tastes. If that runs out... you're on your own

andybarton Posted September 26, 2024 Author Share #152 Posted September 26, 2024 We arrive in two weeks’ time and the weather forecast is looking pretty good. Fingers crossed for a great weekend.
andybarton Posted September 26, 2024 Author Share #153 Posted September 26, 2024 Just a quick update, for the vegetarian diners. Philippe has been advised by the restaurant that apparently the ravioli campagnola has beef as an ingredient, which, as he said to me, isn’t actually a vegetable. Therefore, the vegetarian option is now “ricotta ravioli with a selection of sauces available at time of order”. I trust that this will be OK for those who have ordered the vegetarian option and apologise for the restaurant “messing Philippe about”. Which they have done. I am also about to set up a WhatsApp Group for the weekend. I have some numbers from last year, but if you want to be in the Group and you think that I might not have your mobile number (or you have changed it to keep one step ahead of the law), send me a PM and I’ll add you in. Thanks.

lamefrog Posted September 26, 2024 Share #156 Posted September 26, 2024 | I trust that this will be OK for those who have ordered the vegetarian option and apologise for the restaurant “messing Philippe about”. Actually , I'm the the one responsible for the miscommunication with the restaurant and so its my apologies . The vegetarian ravioli filling is ricotta + a vegetable (possibly "blette") + herbs + whatever secret ingredients they put in . Look forward to meeting everyone Philippe aka lamefrog
Sandokan Posted September 27, 2024 Share #157 Posted September 27, 2024 It is ok Philippe. We love Grenouille boiteuse and for sure we are not a "blame culture". "Point your finger and make jokes and laugh", but no blame Example. Following a member for half a day with a compass that pointed in the wrong direction and missing all the meetings with others in the day, resulted in a change of ownership of the compass 1
Sandokan Posted September 27, 2024 Share #158 Posted September 27, 2024 And as a vegetarian friend found out in Paris when asking for the vegetarian option, the response was "of course madame, We can take the beef out of your meal before serving*

She ordered the vegetable soup, which of course arrived with meatballs. She told them she was a vegetarian, and I watched them take the soup back to the kitchen, fish out the meat balls, and bring the soup back to the table.....

(Of course I might accidentally wind up in Copenhagen instead but I wouldn't mind that and it would provide the excuse to look up Erik Gunst Lund and see what he's up to these days. ) Pete.
