Hi,

I bought my Sofort 2 today. On the advertisement and various videos they show that you can print photos taken from your phone with Leica Fotos and Sofort 2, but from my Android app I can't do it.

I can control the camera and transfer pictures from the camera to my phone, but not the other way around. Can anyone help me? I have a Xiaomi 11T Pro.

Yesterday I took some pictures on the Samerberg and it worked great. I also had the instax mini 11 with me, which prints ok directly on paper, but in terms of quality it is not comparable to the Sofort 2.

However, the problem remains that I cannot print photos in the camera from Android. It seems to send the file, but nothing happens, in fact Sofort 2 remains as if stuck.

Following your post, I tried 1 time on my iPhone and it works although it is a bit slow. Uninstalling and reinstalling the PHOTOS App might help in some cases. However, I have no experience with Android but you could possibly contact Leica Customer Service. For Germany this is customer.care@leica-camera.com.

Some of the main attractions of instant photography (at least to me) are:

1.  The fact that each photo is "instant" (a developed photo is always made immediately upon exposure);

2.  The fact that each photo is "authentic" (i.e. the content of the image cannot be manipulated, at least pre-development);

3.  The fact that each photo is "unique" (i.e. each print is a special edition of 1/1 and you cannot make identical copies).

None of these criteria hold true for SOFORT 2 or its Fuji equivalent, as far as I can see.  The marriage of the digital with the analogue that is taking place here seems to be sacrificing some of the best bits of each medium.

I'm a fan of instant / Polaroid photography, and want to like this camera, but am trying hard to find a reason to do so...  just in my opinion.

Are the Fuji film packs interchangeable with the Leica Sofort 2?

Yes, it takes Instax Mini film packs. But you'd never guess that from the manual, which doesn't mention 'Fuji' or 'Instax' once, and sternly tells us to 'Use Leica Sofort color film only.'

Thx!  The Sofort 2 doesn't come with ANY film and the Leica film packs are all out of stock.  Hence the Fuji purchase.  Wow.

Photos without post production. This one came out this way in B&W and is definitely beautiful.

So could you buy the Fuji Instax Mini Evo instead and essentially get the same camera?

Yes, though they seem to have forgotten to put an accessory shoe on the Leica. But you could always buy one from ebay, glue it on, and then the Sofort would be just as good as the Fuji! ☺️

I think it's kinda like comparing a Leica SL2 with a Panny S1.  Similar build but different quality and PRICE.

Has anyone transferred a picture they haven’t printed to their phone/ipad
in the app there is only an option to send pi’s that are printed!

I printed a pic that was on my phone from a few years ago.  The Fotos App printed it via Sofort 2.  Pic was a little too bright but not too bad.

Printing from phone or camera isn’t an issue.
what I want to do is use the Leica app the same way it works with my Q2 and m10 and that is connect to the camera and see a gallery of all pictures on the Sofort 2.  The advertising would suggest this is how it works but either the manual is wrong or this is a horribly crippled functionality of the app. My partner, on my advise bought a Sofort and as far as I can tell you can only send images to the app from the camera if they are printed! Frankly this is a ridiculous. It doesn’t make any difference whether they are on the internal memory or card. This lack of functionally destroys this camera for use with social media.

i hope I am

mistaken but the manual only mentions sending “printed” images to the app!
