Boo! Hiss! Ah well, perhaps it means they are still ironing out some last minute glitches. If Leica are reading, I'd be happy to road test a sample M11-D for them ,,, 😁

costa43 Posted June 13, 2024 Share #328 Posted June 13, 2024 The latest firmware update for the m11 seems unsuccessful in sorting out the longstanding issues with that camera. It is surely linked to this delay.

I think this is the reason Leica are finding it so difficult to pinpoint what is causing the freezing. Many are ok, but it seems a fair few are not even after the latest update.
patrickcolpron Posted June 13, 2024 Share #332 Posted June 13, 2024 So, September it is then, not going to cry over this one, just wanted to actually see it. Yet, I will not be trading my M10-D anytime soon (ever) for an M11-D, the integrated thumb rest is great, and that's gone with the M11-D. 2

crons Posted June 15, 2024 Share #335 Posted June 15, 2024 It is delayed https://leicarumors.com/2024/06/15/the-leica-m11-d-camera-has-been-delayed-again.aspx/ This could be an interesting camera IF 1) it doesn't freeze and is reliable like me M10R 2) it's brass like my M10R 3) it's black paint like my M10R Another thing is if they put an SD card slot in it that can actially utilize fully UHS-II speeds. I'm glad the faux film advance lever is gone even though some people said it was a great thumbrest. I thought it looked ridiculous.

Unfortunately I think the M11 reputation has been damaged beyond repair at this point. It'll forever be the Freezing Leica M. They need to squash this once and for all or the resale value is going to plummet. I thought they would end it with the M11-P but no. I've heard reports for the monochrome also but not a lot of people bought that. Alan Schaller still keeps shooting his M10 Monochrome which says a lot. It has nothing to do with respecting, just every single thread seems to devolve into claims that everything has to do with M11 freezing. I have seen a lot more people saying positive things about the new firmware. This forum is really the most negative Leica forum I have seen, and as soon as some says anything positive about the M11 they are challenged. I have had freezes and corrupted images in earlier firmware releases so I am not claiming those never happened, but it's just impossible to say anything positive about the M11 in this forum.
LeicaR10 Posted June 16, 2024 Share #338 Posted June 16, 2024 Al Brown, You are spot on in your post #361. Thank you. I was there once with all three M11 variants. All three unreliable for my pro use. Had to go back to what worked reliably for me...M10 variants. r/ Mark 4
gotium Posted June 16, 2024 Share #339 Posted June 16, 2024 Well I’m going cold on the idea of an M11-D. Firstly with the lack of support or fixes for the M10-D and now with parts apparently becoming unavailable if it needs repair, I can’t help but think of the cameras as having a short shelf-life for the cost. And with the D versions coming so late in the product cycle, I no longer think it makes sense to invest so much into it. Better just get whatever most basic model is avail for the best price and use it until it needs replacing. So I instead just bought a demo M11. But right off the bat I’m getting corrupted and unreadable DNG files. I’m going to request a return for refund and don’t think I’ll want to get any of the M11 variants at this point. Too high risk of getting stuck with a defective product. Not sure what to do with my M mount lenses now. I was thinking I might get an M10, or an SL. But with Leica’s pricing plans, maybe now it’s time to jump ship. 1

If members here were connected in the same way for the same experience, this place would have been called Leica GROUP. Respecting the people who paid mucho dinero for their M11s and are miserable due to its many issues is an integral part of the democratic discussion. It is very hard to read sentences like "it has not happened to me so it does not exist" or "it is all user error". That's called gaslighting. Plenty of that in politics already. I have not said "it has not happened to me so it does not exist" or "it is all user error". I don't know why you feel such a need to pounce all over my comment which was that the update has been working fine for me. Basically you are saying my opinion is not valid and I am not respecting others by voicing my opinion. That doesn't feel like a forum to me, it feels like bullying.
