fotografr Posted September 10, 2023 Share #1 Posted September 10, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) One of the world's best jazz bassists, Richard Davis, died a few days ago. I knew him for decades, having first met him in 1978, the first year I began my professional career. The last two years were not good, but his life prior to that was filled with travel and accolades. His music life was almost equally divided between performing (and recording) and teaching at the University of Wisconsin. He was incredibly intense as a performer and teacher, but otherwise very easy going and fun. The first image below was taken in his classroom at the University. The second was taken at his home in a small town near Madison. (Stuart and anyone who reads the New York Times might have seen these in his obit) Welcome, dear visitor!
