Advertisement Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Hi fabianoliver, Take a look here The lens hood that works on the Elmarit 28/2.8 asph V1 can be mounted on the V2?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
adan Posted September 8, 2023 Share #2  Posted September 8, 2023 (edited) They are not designed to accept the same lens hood. But read on....... The v.1 uses a clip-on plastic hood, and has a special channel cut around the front of the lens for the clips to grip, and a stabilizing notch behind that to keep the rectangular hood aligned with the rectangular picture shape. The v.2 uses a dedicated screw-on-the-outside metal hood, and therefore does not have the channel and notch to use the v.1 hood. HOWEVER, it may be the case that the v.1 hood can clip onto and grip the external hood threading of the v.2 lens. But it will be a "loose" fit, and the hood will not be stabilized, and may rotate or tilt, and cause vignetting. It is also the case that the v.1 plastic clip-on hood is no longer made. And is therefore a bit rare and expensive today, as people buy them up on the used market as replacements, not just for the 28mm Elmarit ASPH v.1, but also for the v.1 35mm Summicron ASPH and the previous 35mm Summicron non-ASPHs, which use the same clip-on mechanism and size. There are some 3rd-party 39mm-threaded screw-in wide-angle hoods out there on the market, which should fit on ANY E39 M lens. But buy with caution, since those also may be deeper/longer, and vignette (show up in the picture corners as dark blobs), when using the 28mm's wider field of view. https://www.ebay.com/itm/363756179315?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=363756179315&targetid=1531876730398&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9028802&poi=&campaignid=20385089669&mkgroupid=151067932066&rlsatarget=pla-1531876730398&abcId=9316496&merchantid=6578464&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIi7DenLqagQMVqiCtBh3qVwyiEAQYAyABEgKCA_D_BwE In any event - Leica may sell replacement v.2 lens hoods, if needed. Contact a Leica national distributor's parts department. fabianoliver Posted September 11, 2023 Author Share #4  Posted September 11, 2023 Do you know if the correct lens hood model for the asph V2 is the 12547?
trisberg Posted September 12, 2023 Share #5 Â Posted September 12, 2023 That's not the correct hood. The one you want for the current Elmarit-M 28/2.8 ASPH is the 12470 hood. That is the hood also used for the current Summicron 35/2 ASPH. -Thomas

You may wish to mount a vented hood like the 12504, or a replica of it, which is more compact than the 12470. Welcome, dear visitor! sar Posted June 20, 2024 Share #13 Â Posted June 20, 2024 i think i'll stay with the hood that the V1 lens came with. the cut out in the upper left corner of the V2 hood was what interested me since it covered less of the viewfinder. thanks again for showing other options.
