Miltz Posted September 14, 2023 Share #21 Posted September 14, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) For what’s it’s worth I took some images to sell some sneakers on EBay and I used the Q3 for fun. I shot on JPG medium and compared the shots to my iPhone 13 Pro. The Q3 had a strong magenta bias compared to the iPhone 13 Pro. This was in artificial lighting. I saw no bias to my tests when I shot outdoors and compared to my Nikon. I actually prefer it.
Advertisement Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Hi Miltz, Take a look here Q3 White Balance. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
beewee Posted September 15, 2023 Share #22 Posted September 15, 2023 I can’t speak for Jpegs but for DNGs, in terms of the WB temperature value for AWB on the Q3, they do tend to run in the 7000K range even when I expect it to be in the 5500-6000K range for daylight which is what I see on the SL2-S. With that said, as long as the actual final image looks good, it doesn’t bother me much. As for magenta tint, it seems to be part of Leica’s color signature in recent years. I see it in the SL2-S and M11 images as well.
Daniel C.1975 Posted September 16, 2023 Share #23 Posted September 16, 2023 I had/ have the Q2 and the SL2s. The Auto-WB of the Q3 is very similar to the SL2s in DNG and I prefer it over the Q2, but that‘s my preference. The values in Lightroom are indeed very different as are the results when using the auto-wb in Lightroom - which is odd, but I just take it as it is. The final result is what counts. Most of the time I take the auto-wb from the camera and do slight adjustments. What is definitely an improvement over both, the Q2 and SL2s, is that the very much dreaded WB-adjustment in the viewfinder seems to be completely gone. In case you wonder, I mean the behaviour when every now and the, especially under artificial light, the viewfinder shows a way to cold very blueish image and is the gradually adjusting to right temperature. So far I have never experienced this with the Q3, which is for me a big improvement.
don daniel Posted September 16, 2023 Share #24 Posted September 16, 2023 (edited) @clasami: The picture out of the Q3 seems to show the most natural colours, I think. The picture out of the Q2: green tones seem a bit blue, blue tones a bit green to me (turquoise sky). But I like these colours, too. The picture out of the Sony shows the worst colours, I think. Sky has a slight purple tone. I don't want to see this unless the scene shows a sunset or sunrise. Edited September 16, 2023 by don daniel
