Michael Geschlecht Posted August 25, 2023 Share #4 Posted August 25, 2023 Hello Brent, Nice photos. These MIGHT be examples of Amanita virosa. Also sometimes referred to as "destroying angel". 1 of the more toxic varieties. It is better to have LOCAL mushroom specialists help you to decide which mushroom is edible. Mushrooms that are edible in 1 location may be poisonous somewhere else. Because of differences in soil composition, etc. Altho, if this is Amanita virosa: It is always poisonous. During the migration of millions of people from the Middle East to Europe during the unending Wars in the Middle East recently: A significant number of people suffered from mushroom poisoning while walking to Europe because mushrooms that were edible in the Countries they came from were sometimes poisonous in other places along the way to, or in, Europe. Best Regards, Michael

Best Regards, Michael Hi Michael, Thanks for the info. My general policy on mushrooms is to only eat the ones I buy in the store, and even then only the ones I'm familiar with. I think you might be right about the ones I photographed bring the Amanita virosa. Cheers, Brent
