KEH had a 14405 for ninety bucks and I thought I would give it a try. My problem with other grips was I couldn't use the self timer on the M4 because the grip was in the way. The only one I had that would accommodate using the timer was a really ugly 3D printed one that I gave away. I had a 14405 a long time ago for my first M6 but don't remember the fit. I can confirm that the 14405 does not allow the use of the self timer on the M4. 1
Advertisement Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Hi Matlock, Take a look here Does M6 get bulkier a bit than M4? Does 14405 grip really fit all Ms after M4 except M5?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Huss Posted August 18, 2023 Share #22 Posted August 18, 2023 A digression, but I just realized the M4 and M5 were the last Leica film Ms that had self timers. Leica could have brought that back w the M-A, but did not. Hmm.

madNbad Posted August 24, 2023 Share #24 Posted August 24, 2023 Having given up on grips after using the GPM and two or three 3D printed ones, I finally decided to give the 14405 a chance. I owned on years ago for my first M6 but it was sold along with the camera and had no memory of how it fit my hand. I started looking around on eBay and there were a lot of them for more money than I was willing to pay for one. On a chance, I tried KEH and there was one listed in “Bargain” condition for $85 usd plus shipping. Paid my money and took my chances. It arrived today and the only reason it was listed as “Bargain” was because there wasn’t in a box. All of the things I disliked about the other grips have been remedied with this one. The baseplate snaps in place and it no longer feels like the tab is being bent. The grip is just enough of a protrusion to give my right hand a solid grip while using my left in the “L” grip position. Overall, I am both pleased and surprised. It’s a good partner for my M4-2. The A&A half case for the M4 will be here soon.

a.noctilux Posted August 24, 2023 Share #33 Posted August 24, 2023 😄 Huss used faster film, 250 vs 60 ... with articulate plastic lever wind (more comfort than the replaced all metal) may take more pictures.

I was taught the palm of the left hand was the main camera support so the right hand was free to operate the film wind and shutter. The habits carried over to digital. Learned to carry in the left hand with strap wrapped around the wrist. Bring it up, focus with the left fingers while the right advances film to make ready to shoot. Yep! Of course this doesn't help the OP, sorry to say, but Yep! Couldn't possibly agree more. P. Edited August 24, 2023 by pippy

I mostly use the "L" grip but never liked wrapping the strap around my hand. I'm finding this little grip helps me push the camera into my palm as opposed to drawing it in with the strap.
