brickftl Posted August 7, 2023 Share #1 Posted August 7, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I inadvertently started video mode a couple of times. Maybe by swiping the LCD? Is there a way to disable that function so that video mode can be started only from the menu?
Advertisement Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Hi brickftl, Take a look here how to not accidentally start Q3 video mode. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

Michele Belloni Posted June 11, 2024 Share #3 Posted June 11, 2024 I have the same horrible problem all the time and I'm using it as a pro for documentary and weddings. More often than not I rise the camera and boom... it's in video mode and I miss some shot.

Trankster Posted June 11, 2024 Share #6 Posted June 11, 2024 You will find the screen touch off setting in the Menu 1 focusing settings.

Trankster Posted June 12, 2024 Share #9 Posted June 12, 2024 3 hours ago, Le Chef said: Exactly. I stand corrected. That focusing setting turns off the touch screen when shooting stills and keeps the focus point from moving when touched, which is my preferred setting. I was not aware you may swipe the screen to switch to video. In using my Q3 the past year this never happened accidentally that I know of. I learn something every day...
RBNvRBN photo Posted June 12, 2024 Share #10 Posted June 12, 2024 In the Leica app we should request an option to disable this 'feature'. I know a lot of people would welcome that. 3

David I think he means use the Feature Request option in Fotos to ask for it to be included in a future firmware update. I have been informed by Leica UK it does go the the development team for consideration.

I think your interpretation is probably correct, and the proposal is a very good idea! 😀 David Edited June 12, 2024 by David Wien
Le Chef Posted June 12, 2024 Share #14 Posted June 12, 2024 The “feature” would seem to be based on an assumption that Q3 users want to switch back and forth between photography and video on the fly. I’m not if that’s true or not. Maybe some of the posters here could comment or clarify?
SLamb Posted June 12, 2024 Share #15 Posted June 12, 2024 My understanding is the feature to be requested is to have the ability to disable the swipe on the LCD to switch between Photo and Video modes, thereby stopping it from happening accidentally.
LocalHero1953 Posted June 12, 2024 Share #16 Posted June 12, 2024 I don’t have a Q3, just a Q2, but I’m curious about this problem. Mine is set to Extended EVF (Display Settings), where the LCD is only active when pressing Play or Menu - swiping to switch from Photo to Video can’t happen unless one of those functions are active. Do the Q3 menu options work differently or are you all keeping the rear screen active permanently? What am I missing?

That’s my understanding from owning a Q3 too. I never use the LCD rear screen except for menu changes.

Qfan Posted August 7, 2024 Share #20 Posted August 7, 2024 (edited) Oh gosh, this "feature" on the Q3 is so annoying. 🤦♀️ There have been countless times where I raised the Q3 only to find that it's in Movie mode and by the time I switched back to Photo mode, whatever that I was trying to shoot was already gone. Leica Team, please fix this asap, whether it's adding a new menu item to disable the swipe or making it a more sophisticated touch action to switch into movie. Almost nobody buys a Q3 for its movie, so please remove, provide an option to deactivate or improve on this unwise decision that you guys made to begin with! 😆 Edited August 7, 2024 by Qfan
