Normally I would say: Venice = analogue. So M6. And a lot of Tri-X or Porta. But I always need time for analog. Start very early in the morning. And see if anything happens.

But if I only had one day - then I would take the M10 with me. With little time and the sometimes difficult light in Venice in summer (extremely bright - very dark in the streets), this is often easier, faster. One camera, one lens.

Stonehenge for an afternoon this month

Just be aware that there could be one or two other people who’ve had the same idea. One thing is for sure, you’re not going to get a panoramic shot of the stones. That’s not to say you can’t great nice shoots with a wide angle, just make sure you can get close enough to the stones.

I'm debating bringing the 75 summarit in my bag just for Stonehenge. and I'll continue debating until I leave in two days lol.

I‘d suggest M6, 28mm and Silbersalz 500T, and get up very early when you are there.
and I suggest Bar ai Artisti for afternoon Negronis.

I wasn't aware that film existed. It Sounds awesome. I'll try to pick up a roll or two in London. Thank you for the Negroni rec.

I know the feeling too well :)

I would probably take a 28 and 90, which are usual two anyway. Maybe the 21. If you can Avebury is IMHO much nicer. I used to go there years ago when there was hardly anyone there. Unfortunately it’s since become much more touristic and last time I went I was shocked at how much it had changed… but probably still a better choice than Stonehenge. Of course if you don’t have a choice there also far worse places… I hope you enjoy it and look forward to seeing your shoots.

PS. If you are interested on my Flickr (see link below) there is an album called Neolithic which has a selection of photos from various sites - but not Stonehenge - taken with 21, 28 and 90mm lenses. Not all are Leica, the older ones from Avebury where taken with a Nikon FM2 and 28mm lens. This might help to visualise what sort of image you might get with those focal lengths.

Stop trying to decide you already know what you want to take, that little tiny impulse the brain so often shouts over. That is the only choice. And of course it will be film, because you want to be there and not chimping and judging your photos while you should be fully immersed in the atmosphere of these places. Anything less and what's the point really, we already know what they look like, what we don't know is how you might translate that feeling, and how can you feel if you're thinking over everything?
