Hi everyone,

I recently bought a Leica CL, and while otherwise in good condition I am noticing some small spots inside the viewfinder. The spots are on the right hand side when the camera is inspected from the front, and don’t seem to be on the actual glass - which is pretty clear to my eye.

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks in advance,

Daniel

not that I have seen it beofer but most probably you do not have to worry about, it looks like a damage to eloxation of die cast (aluminium). I do not have better photos, sorry.
Spots are on the surface marked by the orange arrow, other photo (blue arrow) shows the same part but from outside

Still, there is slight danger that these spots is fungus (cannot judge it from tzhe photos), therefore if you have a chance to get top cover off to inspect closer and possibly repaint with black dull paint this would be good. I assume that glass components are not affected, patch in rangefinder is good visible

I guess they could even be original casting faults and the spots are caused by the surface texture of the mould when liquid aluminium is injected. But if they are areas of paint that's flaked off it may still be in the camera.
