I’m taking my Q3 out for its maiden voyage tomorrow morning. I shoot all kinds of things on street, but especially like candid street portraits, often when the people are walking. Looking for thoughts on auto focus. I’m thinking about AFC, eye/face detect and focus point in last position. I’m thinking these settings are good for shooting people, but no reason they won’t work when shooting stationary subjects. Thoughts?

That’s working well for me most of the time although I hadn’t considered focus point positioning. A reasonable keeper rate even at f/1.7 though for fast approaching people manual zone focus at f8-11 works better for me. A significant improvement over the Q2

I have yet to go out for street shooting but the Q3 has a function the Mathphotographer mentioned in his second video that he liked.  He suggested setting the Q3 to Touch AF + Release in the focusing menu (P.85 in the PDF Manual).  Then use the LCD (for me tilted at 90 degrees or so) when you see something interesting.  I will test AFC, eye/face detect with my wife as she whisks past me while I am seated to see what, for me, would be optimal settings.
