Q3 - Freeze while AF -

Hi,

I’ m the proud owner of a Leica Q3, really happy with it, but when I go for AF, there’s a kind of freeze / glitch every time when i press half way… no matter if i go through the screen or evf.

You’ll notice it on the videos… Do you have the same ? The freeze has is the stab i think but I’m more worried about this glitch thing…

Just commented about the same phenomenon here.  Your videos show it perfectly.  Bottom line for me, the AF is not missing focus.  I mentioned I didn't really notice it until someone brought it up.

Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t see any glitch. I see that the camera transitions from AF with wide aperture and then it closes the aperture for exposure preview with increased DOF, and then takes the shot, then the aperture opens up again. When repeatedly half pressing the shutter, the camera switches from wide aperture to then close down aperture again with exposure preview, then it goes back to open aperture.

During this entire time the people moving in the background appears reasonably smooth.

Hey thanks for the answer, let’s say glitch is not the right word (sorry i’m french 😊😊) , you can see what i’m talkin about on the first video with the outline of the tower… it goes from straightline to saw (or « stairs » 😂) to straightline before endin the focus… do you see what I mean ? 

maybe it’s normal but I never noticed that on other cameras 🙂

I think what you’re pointing to is a drop in resolution of the displayed image when you half press the shutter. I’ve seen this as well. I believe it also happens in other cameras like Sony cameras.
