I bit the bullet and bought the Thumb Grip..... Not bad... not bad at all... gives a great, steady grip confidence, in conjuction with the Hand Grip.

Recommended! If not a bit expensive for a small piece of aluminium! Lucky to find one though as, like the Q3, are hard to find.

Curious where you found the black Q3 thumb support.  I've been looking for weeks for one after I received my Q3.  The silver, and to a lesser degree the brass, versions are much more readily available.  I think Leica really dropped the ball on this.  They must have figured that the other colors would be more sought after.

After handling the Q3 for just a few minutes (I am used to the SL2) this looks like a solid accessory! Now just to find one in black...

I bought two other accessories for the Q3, a Leica half case and the round lens hood. The round lens hood I like a lot better than the one that comes with the Q3 and it is easy to remove a center pinch 49mm lens cap. It's also much easier to use a polarizing filter. Also the lens cap on my Q3 factory hood was a real PITA to remove...

The Leica half case is nice but as others have mentioned, no access to the SD card without removing the case-a minor annoyance. What should be noted however are the sharp exposes edges on the bottom of the inside case which some have complained of scratching the bottom of the camera...This however can be easily fixed just by using some fine emery cloth and slightly easing the sharp top corners of the exposed composite material, I did this to mine and zero issues!

With the black so hard to find, I bought this one from a guy in Paris, selling on Etsy, for U.S. $17.50  3D printed, no button access, just black, wide, and it fits well.  Sooner or later, the black Leica model, or a Limms model will hit the market, this will do just fine till then.

You can get a replica thumb grip on aliexpress for around 60-70€. It even arrived in a replica original box. I bought one and honestly it feels and looks like the original one (even branding is embedded on it).

You can, and maybe Leica is supporting such moves with unavailability and the price point. But they own this quite unique design, they have put thought, work and money into it.

For me, I think it‘s great to have third party options which are offering a slightly different solution for a different price tag, but I outright refuse to buy 1:1 copies - yes for my own personal moral reasons (beware, I am not pointing fingers, I am only talking about myself).

Working in the industry I‘ve seen my share of product Piratery and know of a lot companies having big problems with it (even complex PCB-boards copied 1:1, brought into the market under same brand, packaging etc. - first stealing the revenue and then generating a bad reputation for the quality ….. Ah, I stop - sorry for my ranting …

I used the Q2 naked no problem but for some reason use a thumb grip and half case with the Q3

Not necessary really and I can see me using it naked too once I get out of winter gloves/numb hands(raynauds)

It is not necessary but preference. The thumb rest sure does make holding the camera a lot more secure especially when wearing gloves. I have the grip module as well but if I were to choose one, it would be the thumb rest for that purpose.
