Popular Post David Cantor Posted June 20, 2023 Popular Post Share #1 Posted June 20, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) A few years ago, I came across a promotional video being made on a piece of waste land in London's East End. I was transfixed by the sensational voice of the waif-like singer, she was standing on a round piece of wood that was slowly rotated by some kind of connection to a portable battery. The 'crew' consisted of a videographer, a make-up artist and a general helper, the audience was just me. At the end of the recording I asked Gizelle if I could take a few photographs adding that this was the first time ever that I was moved by a song that felt like it had been written and sung just for me. This is one of the shots that I took on that day. Here's link to the finished video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkG0lBKUZB8 Hope you enjoy. Welcome, dear visitor! Sparkassenkunde Posted June 20, 2023 Share #2 Posted June 20, 2023 What a wonderful portrait of a wonderful woman! This must have been a truly exceptional experience. I especially like the tight crop - this brings her stunning eyes right into the center. Thanks for sharing this picture here with us!
fotografr Posted June 20, 2023 Share #3 Posted June 20, 2023 (edited) This is really an exceptionally good portrait. The forward tilt of her head adds a sense of her involvement in being photographed. One of your best in my opinion. benqui Posted June 20, 2023 Share #6 Posted June 20, 2023 What a beautiful portrait David! In most cases I do not like a tight crop, but this one is an exception: really perfect!

The scenes of Gizelle in the rain were shot at a place called Arnold Circus in Shoreditch. Former site of the Old Nicol, probably London’s most notorious slum which was demolished in the late 1890’s. A book about the history of the place is ‘The Blackest Streets’ by Sarah Wise, one of my favourites.
