Q3 Halfcase

Ended up going with the IDS grip.

 

None of the cases convinced, honestly the best cases I've had for my M bodies have been the cheap Chinese amazon ones but who knows when we'll see one of those for the Q so this should do it.

I have one on order from Artisanworkstation on Etsy.  Leica Q3 Handmade Half Case Cowhide Leather Insert Camera Bag - Etsy  I purchased one from them for my Q2 and the quality was excellent.

Interesting comments on the Leica Q3 half case, I have one ordered that should arrive this Saturday...Will have to inspect closely for both wobble-free fit as well as anything sharp on the interior that would damage the finish.

Please let us know.  Im more of a handgrip user but my local Leica store said that I am “way down” on the waiting list however they do have the half cases in stock.  I’d like to protect the camera a bit

Used the old Q2 grip and now the IDS one on my Q3.

Q2 grip felt better in hand than the IDS one since the grip was taller, but removing it to get to the sd card was a hassle (though the dial screw does make it easier. Sad that the Q3 wireless grip uses the screw with that ring to turn it).

The IDs grip was shorter, but I'm kind of used to it now. The thinner bottom plate along with the smooth grooves makes access to the sd card and battery compartment super convenient, hence it is the one that stays on my Q3. To me, it's well designed since the smooth grooves for the openings were very thoughtful as I've had straight openings where my finger couldn't get to the unlock tab or something as easily (ex: RRS plate for rx1r2). The thin bottom plate keeps the profile small to allow it to fit in my sling comfortably. 

 

The IDS grip was suggested to me by DAERASO as an option, and I tried it since I def needed the cutouts. Turns out for me at least, it's a great functioning half case for now.

The Lim's Q3 half-case is scheduled to be available in early August.  I have had 4 different Lim's (Korean company) half-cases for my cameras, including the Q2.  The leather quality is outstanding.  The fit is perfect and you can access the battery and SD card compartment through doors at the bottom.  Additionally, the bottom plate is Arca-Swiss compatible!  I paid $149 for the Q2 case.

I've had the Leica half case on my Q3 for about a month now.  I don't detect any wobble, nor do I see any scratches on the finish of the camera.  Seems to work about as well as the Q2 case did.  YMMV.

Same with me.  As I stated, I give the bottom screw a slight little extra, non-damaging, twist with my Swiss Army Knife screw driver.  No problem so far.

I received my Leica Q3 half case today and I can see how it could cause scratching to the lower camera body...Please see photos below, the hard composite shell is exposed  on the bottom right with a sharp enough edge to possibly cause scratches if not installed carefully. Before I install mine, I am going to use fine Emery Cloth to slightly radius the sharp top edges which are exposed as shown below.

 

Sorry for the poor iPhone picture but I edited it to better show the sharp top edges on the right side of the case bottom. You will be able to easily feel where to radius with you fingers. Good luck!

I just ordered one of those, a lot cheaper than the Leica model, it will be returned.  BTW also on the EYSY site, MANY different cases, and this;

Such conspicious ads clearly prove that Etsy still is far away from handling these issues properly.
