It would be quicker if you get your dealer to exchange for another rather than wait for it to be adjusted. I’m afraid it’s few weeks waiting time. You know that voigtländer is inferior to Leica, don’t you ? In our world being ostentatious matters. I don’t care if quality of Leica lens sucks, what matters is I have Leica, you have voitländer, I’m better than you 🤪 1
Boojay Posted August 13, 2023 Share #106 Posted August 13, 2023 I have a bit of a theory, shoot me down if you like but, I believe that you are just as likely, if not more likely, to get a dodgy Voigtlander lens as a Leica lens. Thing is, when you have only paid Voigtlander prices you maybe don't make quite as much fuss about it. Maybe even using it for a while, selling it on, buying another just to see what this one's like etc etc. Whereas, when you stump up your hard earned money for a nice new Leica lens, like the re-issue SR, you just expect the damn thing to be perfect, immediately!!! I feel able to say this being on my third (over quite a few years) copy of the Nokton, current one is good, and my recent purchase of the re-issue lens, that I'm more than happy with, having avoided the hood problems, mine arrived with newer version, and seems calibrated spot on with my M10R. Of course, there is always that we hear more from unhappy buyers than happy ones🙂, I prefer to look at images like those shown by @Al Brown, who also seems to be enjoying his. Having said all that, there should be no wait for @bpultorak, the dealer should contact Wetzler, have their customers lens back and get a replacement sent immediately. I ordered my lens from Leica UK and it came to me directly from Germany in 4 working days, there should be no waiting weeks.
bpultorak Posted August 13, 2023 Share #107 Posted August 13, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Believe me, it’s not my high expectations, the lens is just not calibrated at all. And as you mentioned, I should get new one in no time with sorry letter. We will see 😉

Your theory is absolutely right, but the Voigtlander probably has somewhat higher % as you already suggested. I have dealt with 4 misaligned and/or decentered BRAND NEW Voigtlander lenses in the past 2 years and only two Leica M (statistically my case means nothing, I know). What I wanted to suggest is that the QC dropped a level lately just about everywhere - and this is no speculation.
Al Brown Posted August 13, 2023 Author Share #109 Posted August 13, 2023 My BIGGEST ISSUE with the steel rim now that the new hoods are here is the infinity lock. I hate the damn thing. I know, I know... 1

The new hood does not have the extra “stair” step in the middle, this is the original (flawed) one. 1

Another issue 🙄 I wrote to Leica in the middle of June (June 16th to be exact, have posted on this forum) and there was no sight of the new hoods even being produced, let alone shipping. They did not start sending them out until a month later, so any new steel rim with June 2023 date almost certainly does not have the new hoods, unless they opened the sealed packages in Wetzlar and exchanged them. The Nokton 35 1.4 II copy I had was back focusing badly at f/1.4 while my SR reissue was fine (but had other issues like sticky focus). It’s just the luck of the draw as to whether the person assembling your lens had a hangover or not.

That theory is both true and not true. Statistically it is absolutely correct, but taking into account all the quality control issues that have been plaguing Leica lately you could just buy one single lens once and get a complete lemon. Exactly... This is the first Leica lens I buy new, and it's now in Germany for repair because of strong back focusing... Bought 2 Voigtlander new and they were perfect. It's a sad state of affairs.
